Additional Hobbies...Lets Hear 'Em

I got into reloading and shooting a few years back and I think that I just now “broke even” on the reloading equipment.

I do enjoy shooting. Here’s my best 600 yard group. View attachment 303591

Other than that, I just so happen to have my job be my biggest hobby. I’m a trombone player and love doing it.

What did you use for the 600yrd?

I too like watches and clocks too. I used to be a serious homebrew (thus the Zymurgy name) now a craft beer fan. I also enjoy wine and a good scotch, guess alcohol consumption as a hobby might be stretching it. I love music, but got into playing late in life: the piano at 39, tuba at 45 and plan on learning the tenor sax this winter at 53.

I used to be into wood working but my shop has essentially turned into a garage with the installation of the 2 post lift.

I guess I will call the lens and clip making a hobby for now. I do enjoy making the molds and the challenge to reproduce a perfect lens.

Always liked snooker so several years ago found a 10' Gold Crown which was the largest I could squeeze in our basement. I'm a big Ronnie O'Sullivan fan. A couple times a week friends come over, We all suck at snooker but have a good time just the same.

Since I've retired I've been very busy with projects at my daughter's houses. Both houses are 100+ years old so there is always something to do. My wife is an avid gardener so guess who gets to do all the grunt work. Just finished relaying all the interlocking brick for the garden path and side patio. Now staining the deck. I've also found some time to get involved with politics with the Canadian federal election coming up this fall. We need to get rid of our drama teacher Prime Minister. I'm on the executive of the West Niagara EDA for the Peoples Party of Canada. It is a new party best characterised as conservative/populist.
Here's a link to the party platform if anyone is interested.

Very nice Gold Crown! Is it a I or II? Not sure if you've heard of it but you should check out www.azbilliards.com.

I believe he's using 75gr 223 Boat tail hollow point.

That's a little specific. You must have some inside info. I was going to guess 556/223 since I don't think 22 is going to accurately fly to 600 yrd.

My questions are standing or bench rest? Auto or bolt gun? Either way it's good grouping.

Specific would have been saying, "Hornady Black." I'm just reading what's on the screen.

I see that now.... Sometimes it helps to read. But only sometimes.

Music, carpentry, restoration (in general), landscaping, filmmaking.
A lot of these have faded, esp music which was for the better part of my life, all I did other than my job. .. it was actually all I did AND my job AND my course of study for 15 years. .. that kind of killed it for me. Still pick up the guitar, sit at the drum kit or the organ or fire up the synths from time to time but now I just find it heartbreaking. I hate 99.9995% of music, including what I do.

Filmmaking and photography have become too expensive. Still do some hand animation on found cellulose and hammer out shorts on digital but it's not like it used to be... sold my Bolex and my Hasselblad 10 years ago.

Restoration and Carpentry have made a drastic comeback as a hobby and a nice supplement to my daily bread winning. I'm glad I don't have to depend on it at the moment. Gives me some wiggle room on jobs I'd rather not take on.

Landscaping ... I hate it till I'm doing it but it's summertime and I never seem to stop.

All of this, short of carpentry and restoration is sort of headed for the closet in favor of another project real soon though.

Cool! And a trombonist!! Usually in the collector car world I'm the only pro musician, but I've noted a few musicians here on FCBO, some being pro and others just enjoying a satisfying hobby.

@mopar_4life - Those are very nice manually operated pitch approximators - do you play classical, jazz, everything? In an orchestra or freelancing?

I was thinking about posting something similar so I am glad you did. Usual types of hobbies including camping, fishing, hunting and travelling. When we are home I like to take old things and make them like new again. My wife loves gardening and yard work. For me I started to make whimsical style birdhouses then I drafted her to help me. These are functional houses with opening doors (for clean out purposes). I fab the house and she does the stone work. We have sold quite a lot of these but have it on hold for now, we will take it up again. Here are a few favourites. View attachment 303537

The guy who recently did the cloth and cushions thought it was a 1. The legs don't screw in and out which is apparently a characteristic. Thanks for the link I'm familiar with it. There's some serious knowledge on that site.

Old computers.
And trying to code games on them.
I was a teenager in the '80s, so that explains a lot.

Model trains.
But I lack the space to build my tracks, so they stay in boxes.
I have a NYC 20th Century Limited consist in HO scale.

Comics.
I buy them. A lot. Too much.
