440 Valve cover bolt needed

You just need one?? PM me your address and I'll get one to you. HTH, Lefty71

Okay, the thing I've not seen questioned is the 5/16 bolt size on a valve cover.. The only one I've ever seen is one in my shop right now that had the original 1/4-20 screw threads damaged so my Dad drilled it out and tapped "1" hole to 5/16. Looks really strange with the rest of them at 1/4".

Naa ya don't call, most won't waste their time on a single bolt request, what I mean't by 'Pocket Pull' is that you go to a yard that you have a reputation with (been there before) that let's you walk right out into the yard, may want to stop an ask for something that you may or may not need at the counter, have the right wrench in your pocket, poke around and hav'a lookee, grab the bolts and any other smalls you may need. Any yard that I've been in if the engine & transmission is still in the car it was fair game to pick parts, course this may be different now as these old cars are like gold to most. Who knows, you may also find something nice and rare that you want but really don't need. (ain't it always the case).

Of course don't show up in your street clothes & flip flops, that won't get far past the gate me thinks. Try and dress like the trade IYKWIM.
Thanks. I had done that in the past years ago where I walked up to them and I had tools, found the parts on my own and they were ok with browsing around. Those days were so cool. I saw so many cars, motors and parts. Too bad a lot of those are gone now. A couple places I called were down right rude when I mentioned any Mopar engines not just bolts.

Oh maybe the size is 1/4”with a 1/2” head. I don’t plan or drilling anything. Everything else on the car is there.

Seems some of the member don't realize you are looking for a OEM factory marked bolt to keep the original equipment complete on your motor. While their suggestion are fine and would work perfectly well you are wanting the correct style of bolt that it would have left the factory with captured washer and markings. ;)
Definitely... I don’t necessarily have to have everything OEM but so much of the car is still original and complete that I just wanted to make sure the engine and engine bay looked and functioned as close to factory as I could. I know it’s not perfect but it’s looking better.

put a non correct bolt in the back where no one will see it for Christ sakes.
You would think that a match would be easy to find. It's not.
See the photo of the factory bolts above. I was referring to the top set with bolt heads. I have the bottom types that go on the corners. Those 2 studs stayed in place where they were originally. The bolt head type fits the other 4 holes per valve cover and are visible.

I sent 68-New Yorker 2 bolts off of a '68 440. They are OEM, so they should fit his needs. I never throw any small bolts etc. away, never know when they might be needed!

How do you like the Holley?
It’s been great. I didn’t change it but I’ve read where New Yorkers were built with Carters. I totally rebuilt it when the gaskets started leaking from E10 gasoline.
Does anyone know if Holleys were original to some of these. Nothing tells me for certain. Would it be on the build sheet?
