I’m about ready to throw in the towel on fixing leaky shower connections

Check McMaster Carr for rubber washers or maybe square o-rings (yes I'm being serious they have a square section instead of round).

If you strike out there you could try Erie Tec. I think they will take credit card and shop to you.

I don’t understand that all. Please expound.
Well I guess you have never had to clean the trap or retrieve something that fell into the drain on a pedestal sink... you should feel blessed!
I'm just trying to make light of your adventure.

The second time I was ask to work on one when my neighbor asked if I could fix her leak problem. I said sure you got a sledge hammer? We'll take that whole damn thing out and put a man's sink in.

.

Everything about mine is good. Just leaked everywhere there’s an connection with a black rubber washer. 3 in total.
i have made washers and other needed things from rubber sheet material. different thicknesses in and around from my garage collection of stuff. a sharp utility knife and a pair of scissors work well. good luck

Thanks for explaining, but not pertinent in any way to my situation however.

Thanks brother. I may have to do that.

Why is it so hard to find replacement rubber washers for the shower connections?

Easy enough to find water hose rubber washers, seals, gaskets, or whatever they are called, but same thing for a Delta shower head, hose, and main connector to the pipe coming out of the wall no dice. What are they even called?

Tried internet search, YouTube, etc. Delta, and plumbing sites etc and all they want to do is sell me a new assembly, or the hose.

Disposable crap.

Spent an hour at local Ace hardware store looking at everything they had and nothing is close.

very frustrating.
Planned obsolescence! Like a Maytag, you will never buy a new one if the old one never brakes and/or you can't find parts to fix it. It's all on purpose.

And round washers can be punched out with a gasket punch set. Sold a lot of these on the tool truck. From gaskets to rubber washers to conveyor belting.

They did have something close, I was thinking of drilling the inner out but would prefer something better quality if possible that doesn’t involve plastics or rubber threads if it exists.

i forgot to mention that. i use them all the time. thanks

I thought of going to a craft store.

Thought of the guys making leather belts in the late 70s in the malls, with the hole punches, then immediately dismissed that idea, and started thinking of drilling/boring out the holes on available near correct crap.

Then I just got pissed.

When you get good and truly pissed you will just make your own showerhead. And if you do reach this point please start a "Build Thread" so we can follow along.

Saw a video this morning of a guy who used steel plumbing pipe to make a overhead pipe for his rain shower head.

Any way leaks are stopped. I added some O rings to crappy old gaskets as a bandaid fix til I get a new hose with steel threads.

Also ordering some new gaskets, comes as 50 pack, 3/4 od, 3/8 id, 1/8 thick, lifetime supply lol.

Will never have a leaky shower again hopefully.

These are silicone, good idea or bad?

I believe the washers that come with these new all plastic heads are of too hard a durometer.
The cheap plastic nut cracks before you get the washer to seal. You finding replacement washer of a softer material sounds like a good answer.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking

:)

Thanks for your gesture brother. I was just in a mood that evening.

Doesn’t happen often, but if it does when working on stuff I walk away so what I’m working on doesn’t get broken, I don’t waste money, and I don’t get hurt.

Appreciate your intent.

When I was working we traveled a lot for weeks at a time. One of our technicians traveled with his own shower head. A simple old school Nibco head he replaced the hotel shower heads with.
