How would I test if it is a vacuum leak?

When I leave it at fast idle it can run all day but when I kick it down is when it dies.

Thanks for the replies, I believe it is the original carb that the car came with. I also put fresh gas into it this morning. I'll double check the lines and the filters to make sure there is no crud in it.
