    More on float needle sticking

Several companies make a fuel tank sealer, and this time I used POR. Their kit has precleaners. My tank had minor light rust, that cleaned chemically first. I have used this type coating in several motorcycles of old, and had great luck with them. When done, the inside looks amazing. I...

    More on float needle sticking

I have only begun to clean out the float bowls.....that had what looked like a soft buildup in places that actually had pieces of mung. Other areas are still cruddy after using a cotton swab and carb cleaner....did not come off. Need a soft brush to finish. This is some kind of chemical...

    More on float needle sticking

Had my new stuff, coated tank, pump and edelbrock running like a new one, some time back. Let it sit for a few months, and now, oh my gosh.....will hardly run. Pulled the carb and found green crap and stuck float needles....bad stuck. And, the accel pump check was stuck as well. So, a...

66 Fury Fuel and Temp Gauge

Sent my gauge pack away for repair....said that it was likely the limiter, but they would not try the external one. so, I got both the mech and electronic limiters. They both measure to work, but my gauges would not. If you need to try them, I will let mine go for some dinero. pm if interest

    Mice and wiring

I mentioned the metal wire loom before, but have used more of it now. It is great....looks good and installs well. Much nicer and easier than the best loom I got from the wire harness maker. Yes, not made here, but neither are the fuel pumps, suspension or brake parts, et al. But, I can...

    Water pump installation issue!

I tried one of the well known hi flow aluminum rotor pumps. It did the same thing. After a bit of dye checking and grinding, not a lot, it functioned. I may yet go back to another hi flow I got later, with the steel blade type pump. And, will also do some checking clearance before...

    Freeze plugs

I replaced them in my first 53 mopar 6 and more recently in an MGB engine also rebuilt....but have forgotten most of what I learned earlier. After a study on the Utube, I agree that most seem to be this inverted cup, not as I recalled. And, I found this install with the flat type that get...

    Freeze plugs

Now you have me scratching something. Was the early plug just a concave disc, not cup style.....hmmm, cant recall.

Horn not working, steering shaft not grounded.

Cant speak to all years, but my 66 has the slip ring that has a roller on the turn signal switch for this connection. I do like a bit of my ubiquitous electrical grease on both.

    Freeze plugs

Learning at my age is somewhat painful. I have recently seen some posts on head questions, and some on the blocks, and noted that the freeze plugs appeared to be installed upside down. I have replaced many over the decades I have toyed. But, in my experience, the freeze plug is a tight fit...

if you get a 440 motor, be sure, about the plugs,, rv motor takes rv 12yc not rj 12

I never cease to be amazed at what people know, and also the nutz things that the auto industry engineers did.

    Mice and wiring

So, to add insult to injury, I recently planted the tomato plants. Went to water, and a mole had grabbed one plant and pulled it under ground.....never seen that. But, just adds to my thoughts on rats.....ratz.

    413 “ service life”

My 66 383 was in similar shape, and sat for decades and who knows miles. After much work on the car to get er to run, I agree entirely with timing chain.....just do it. Mine would almost touch itself when squeezed together, and engine ran. Mine has no oil smoke, no breather smoke, and runs...

    Edelbrock 1906 jetting

No, I use several race jugs for ethanol free gas, then add sea foam for this car, since I have not gotten to the point of long drives. Not sure of an answer to how much got into the tank.....just realized it was dirty, and stopped, with a lot of black crap in the bottom....no idea where it...
