I swapped mine for a saginaw because it leaked, I cobbled up rebuilding it, and I managed to find an RV saginaw bracket with a good pump on it.
I didn't notice any difference in how it feels though? maybe mine was just a little well cooked and wasn't making full pressure?
A hitch is on my list but I'm planning to wait till after subframe connectors for safety. I have a bad habit of testing the carrying capacity of things like that...
As far as panel mounting goes there are lots of options due to people putting them on their busses and RVs. I have a couple buses...
Interesting. I forgot most vans still have gutters. I'd probably put something under the clamps so they don't tear up the trim but that looks like a solid choice.
Has anyone used any "universal" roof rack on your car? I have a 66 4 door sedan that I take on road trips and camping. I might end up carrying boxes up there at some point but I'm mostly interested in being able to mount a single large solar panel.
I'm not interested in anything that requires...
Based on a little napkin math I've run a little over 10,000 gallons of 87 ethanol gas through my 383 since I bought it in 2013. I have revved it till valves float plenty of times. I've climbed the Rockies with it twice on 85? (whatever low grade is in Denver). If it's done any pinging it clearly...
I got the other one off and got some more pictures. I'm starting to think the last mechanic didn't earn all the praise I've given him... I'm not going to name names because I don't know if it may have already been like that. The mangled bushing pin actually came out of the straight control arm...
Right now I'm doing upper and lower arms, bars, sway bar, thrust arms, and leafs. I plan on eventually doing the steering box and a rear sway bar as well as my budget allows.
It's worn through the rubber, the sleeve, and I think into the pin...
I'm sending the arm in to Firm Feel for the welded plate, bushings, and powder coating. As long as they don't tell me my arms are destroyed I should be ok.
I finally got around to tearing things down. I got one arm out last night and am hoping to get the next out tonight. Overall everything came out with minimal violence required. One of the benefits of oil everywhere I guess... It certainly looks like the LCA bushing is in worse shape than I'd...
I didn't realize you were so close. My parents are northwest of Indy so I'm around there pretty often. I might shoot you a message if I can make it work next time I head that way. It'd probably be best to aim for stopping by on my way up. I usually work on my 63 Dodge bus while I'm there so I...
This sounds more like what I would expect. With lots of low mileage cars around I could see the expectation of them being good "forever" coming about. I can't imagine that my 250,000 mile springs are as good as new. Everything has a duty cycle and there are only so many times you can twist a...
