Because the pump is adjusted wrong. The two brackets should be next to each other with a rubber bumper that goes into a slot on one of the brackets. It's the same bumper as a manual trans clutch pedal bumper. The pump bracket should be pulled from the bottom when adjusting.

You need to get the vin and data plate information. Seems like you are ignoring these questions on purpose. The car is to solid to be a parts car.

Not a metallurgy problem. The bars had no seal at the rear anchor end, and dirt would build up and retain moisture. They were also not greased to help prevent the rust. This was corrected in 58 as you said.

Battery tray stuff available from Vans Auto repro. Not expensive.

A good washer bottle will be next to impossible to find. It's one year only, and they all got brittle and cracked. Once in awhile an NOS one shows up.

I also have an 85 Yamaha Vmax.
