I would call that not unexpected for a presumably near 60 year old engine. However, I would replace it if I were pressing the engine back into service.

Check the link provided and look through the pics. There are some of the short block in the engine bay where you can see the mount in front of the steering box. Later in the thread there are pics of the left mount on an engine. Maybe the guy who started the thread has an engine bay pic without...
I’m pretty sure that left mount forward of the steering box is 65 big block only. I believe small block and slant use the more conventional mounting next to the steering box. If you want to bolt a small block to this stub without fab work, I don’t believe that to be possible.
As a side note...
The rear drums are not held on with swaged studs and there’s no issue. Drums are hub centric so there’s no worry that they aren’t concentric unless there’s a machining issue of course. Once the wheel is bolted on, everything stays tight and in place, just like the rears.

If you keep your 383, don’t slap stealth heads on there or you’ll end up with way less than 10:1. Those pre 68 engines have closed chamber heads. If you go to aluminum, you’ll need the small chamber edelbrock or similar. Just a heads up.

Western US is where you’ll find what you need. Maybe you can find someone that will cut the mounting portion off so you don’t need to ship an entire stub frame. Try wildcat in Oregon or valley auto wrecking I believe it’s called in Arizona. You could also put a wanted ad on here. Someone has...
There is a guy on forbbodiesonly doing the full awd conversion and I think 6.4 swap from a jeep on a 68 charger. Give that a look see. It’s an incredible amount of fab work. I would personally stick to an engine and trans swap and call it a day. It’ll be enough work to get that finished up and...
I recall my 65 NYer had a wire holder on the left front head. I believe it was on the forward exhaust stud like the picture posted.
I know a thing or two about screen doors. My bro built a panel for the lower part of his dash in a 50 Studebsker pickup to hold some switches and a modern radio...
If you go to the manufacturers website you should be able to find an inflation chart for your exact tires. With that info and a scale weight for your car (truck stop or similar), you can dial in your air pressure.

I’m pretty sure that slab c bodies and A bodies have completely different motor mount biscuits, so an A body kit wouldn’t work. The difference between small and big block is the bracket part that bolts to the engine is different between the two. If you want bolt in ease, you likely will need a...
