Average 750 miles per year. What's the least expensive oil and filter to use for 1970 440?

For me, it's twice a year. I drive my 66 Newport daily, about 5,000 miles a year. This is MY idea of "Fahrvergnügen"!! Living in CT, it's fairly economical to run. I OWN it, no payment, Insurance is $220 annually, Personal Property tax is $16 a year. This offsets the 10 MPG....a little! But, I...

Manufacturers do what they have to in order to keep the "Supply Chain" flowing. In was informed that MOOG did this during CoVid. Supposedly, most of these parts have flushed out of the system. I was a Counterman for 25 years and saw my share of trash passed off as parts! It's not really...

As for Shipping from Rock I offset that by ordering the filters, by the case, when I NEED to buy a pile of parts! I must disagree with Polara71, WIX filter in hand "HECHO EN LOS EE.UU."!!!

My 66 Newport, 383, gets WIX 51515 (Rock Auto, 12/cs, $4.96 ea) and Shell Rotella T4, 15w40 (WalMart, 3 gallon Eco-Bag, $47.88) Decent quality products at fair prices. Rotella T4 has over 1200 ppm of zinc. Zinc supplement can be used but not necessary. $25 DIY oil change!

    Oil Changes on older cars

Here’s my “2 cents” on the subject: I found REV X ZDDP additive on Amazon, 5 bottles for about $40 and use SuperTech synthetic from Walmart. Amsoil also offers their Z-ROD product which is a full synthetic with added zinc for older vehicles. Or, if a roller cam is available for your engine, that...

    My new ride...

Well, it’s been a while. Lot of work done to the car in the past month or so. Replaced the heater core, blower switch, headlight switch, water pump, stat, hoses, fuel pump, wheels and tires. Added a fan clutch. With all I’ve seen doing the work, the car is definitely true to the odometer at...

    Maximum tire size

Yup, looks great to me also! Chose to go 235/75-15 all around on my 66 Newport. Wanted redlines but they were not budget friendly. Going blackwalls. I’ll see how they look in a week or so as they’re due to arrive by Wednesday.

I had a set of 255’s with stock 15x7 steels on the back of my 66 Polara with room to spare.

Driving the car to Carlisle in July(as long as it’s still on). Nice upgrade from my 78 AMC Concord that I drove last year! Especially since I live in a C-Body body.

    My new ride...

Hi, thanks everyone for the kudos! Yes, this is the car that was on Craigslist in MA. Car was purchased new in WV, I have a copy of the window sticker, the original WV title, temp plate and license plate also. Car came with the dealer brochure and an ad out of an old magazine showing the car in...

    My new ride...

Finally found a decent C Body cruiser! Picked up a ‘66 Newport 2 Dr in Turbine Bronze. Only 22k original miles, very clean, most everything works and drives like a new car from the era. This has to be the best C Body I’ve ever had! Still grinning from ear to ear!
