OK who has a Gran Fury wiper motor ( my research says they are unique). I can find 2 speed versions at RA but no luck for 3 speed? Anyone holding? Thanks
Love the duals on the 4 door, straight back, no nonsense (440?). I get lots of mileage correcting people that I have a "Gran Fury" not just a Fury. Corporate running out of names in the late 70's is just too amusing. They could have kept Satellite and Coronet till the B bodies faded in 78 for...
So thanks to all the kind help I was brave enough to experiment with my disaster. I think the motor fried internally, causing the blue wire ( always hot when switch if off) to melt. The park setting must reverse polarity, thus requiring "hot" in Off and delivery functions. So now the hunt is on...
Saw lots of shows between 82 and 95, More of a Wharf Rat during the touring time, sober was better for me. Still some great music and lots of good folks. Really learned how to wrench on old cars!
That would be my guess, its a unique expression of the switch. So maybe the wiper motor fried internally and grounded out that circuit? That could explain the ballast resistor, it stays hot but at low voltage while in stand by mode? I'll get pics tomorrow
I'll get pictures and look at the down load for the shop manual. I determined the switch function with an ohm meter and a test light. Thanks very much for the offer to help
So I'm still baffled on how to proceed. I tested the NOS switch with an ohm meter and discovered to my horror that even in the off position power is sent into the harness via the blue wire that caught on fire. I only the fat red wire is hot and the switch delivers signal to the other wires once...
Super clean and dry 67 4 door Fury, the floors and trunk drops are in perfect shape. I'll cut what you need and ship UPS. Minimum charge is $50. Beware shipping can be brutally expensive. Its OE sheet metal, so it fits right! 40 years experience in the automotive world, details upon request.
I'll try the reroute and new switch this week. I bet the frozen wiper is part of the story, especially with the hidden location that loves to hold ice and water.
Hi, I have a rust free 67 that I'm parting out. More than happy to cut what you need and get it shipped. I'm new to this forum but have 7 pages of feedback on TheSamba and 40 years experience selling parts. PM for details
Ok I'm trying to figure out a mild electrical fire that may be the result of a bad decision. Its a 3 speed wiper motor and when I got the car 10 years ago they did not work. The switch has a strange "Borg" looking ( heat sink?) that sits ontop of the switch. Its a rectangular block with a few...
