I agree with all of this. My 70 calipers were pitted almost that bad. I honed the just enough to get them smooth. Ordered some new pistons and seals and they work fine.
Just my opinion but I always replace both bands. If they are the originals then they are 50 years old. Sounds like you are using good parts I use the exact same ones in most of my rebuilds. The low/reverse band doesn’t get as much wear as the forward band but they tend to break more often from...
If you have never done a 727 or 904 trans I would recommend watching YouTube videos specifically cope racing transmission’s video. I know it says “racing” in the title but John Cope from CRT is probably one of the most knowledgeable guys on Mopar transmissions in the US. John sells parts for...
I got this intake with a 72 Duster drag car. I was planning on running it but have decided to go with a big single carb. The car has a fiberglass front end with 6 pack scoop and I don’t want to cut it up.
The carbs are 660 Holley center squiters have had the choke horns removed and have been...
do you have your old needle and seats that you can compare the new ones to? What brand was the rebuild kit. I have never had an issue with the needle and seats in a Holley brand or AED kit. Usually if the kit is for multiple carb variants it will have the different part options.
Everything for the early 727’s is available, clutches, bands, seals, bushings and gaskets are all no problem to get. During the rebuild it is a little different because of the rear pump but not a big deal. If the transmission was working properly then all of your hard parts should be fine...
Thanks for posting this. I'm going to get into the process of changing my strut rods soon and would have been looking for the key style, now I don't have to waste time thinking about it.
I have access to a 3 ton press with some good v blocks that will help. I still have to pull them out which probably won’t happen for another month but when I do I will post pics and results on here.
Yeah I was thinking about that also but I read some opinions on here that straightening them would be a bad idea. I think I will try to straighten them first.
I emailed them and they responded that the original sway can be used but the bushing will will not fit properly cause excessive wear.
Back to my original question what type of steel are strut rods made from. I hit it with a file to check hardness and they seem to be just a mild steel.
