I don't mean to act like a know it all but, my first '68 Fury was my parent's car and I remember when the car came home brand new...
I bought it from my dad in the early 70's, with bias ply tires.
Anyways, the wheel covers would spin on the wheel, with a bias ply or a radial tire, and did...
The drums need to be resurfaced and this will fix the shuddering.
Make sure that you watch the guy that resurfaces them and make sure that you tell him to be easy with the drums as to only cut as little material as possible....
My wheelcovers used to spin also.... It's just the way that it...
I bought a '70 Firebird Formula 400/4speed/12 bolt that had been a San Francisco car it's entire life. The car would roast both rear tires in second gear and would pull most of the San Francisco hills in third.
Like was said above they rust from the top down!
I had the rust in the top repaired...
That was fun!!! lol
I had a similar set up. '69 383 Magnum from a Charger, cam, exhaust, Accel ignition, single big 4 bbl on an Edelbrock Torker and the Torker came on at the top end of the RPM range.... And, I also had installed a rear sway bar! The difference was like day and night!!
My current '68 Fury 383 70-75 consistently....
My first '68 Fury with a warm 383/727 would do 70mph in low, 102mph in 2nd before the valves would float, then in Drive, I once had it past the 120mph mark and between the 1 and 2 in the column gearshift numbers in the speedometer cluster....
Thanks, Skwerly and mousehousemoparman!
@Skwerly: it's actually Code -QQ1 "Electric Blue". B5 Blue is just a little different and is a '69 color code.
I'm glad I was able to get back to you both so quickly!! Only 8 or 9 months!! lol
It's Furys if it's more than one Fury (because Fury is a name) such as; I own two Furys. Or, there were a number of Furys at the show.
And Fury's if you're talking about something that is part of the Fury such as; My Fury's carburetor or my Fury's tires....
111 would be; one hundred...
Wheel Vintiques has a 15" Magnum that is a wheel that I will eventually buy. I found a set of 14" '69s with a trim ring and use my tires but, in the big scope of things.... I would like to have a set of 15" x 7"s without the trim rings...
I'm trying to keep my '68 Fury III as 'correct' as possible. I have made some upgrades and have some more upgrades in the works, that 'could have' been ordered, when new.
I am the second owner of this garage kept, 95,000 mile car, have every service record since 1968 and the previous owner kept...
