"I consider that "background information" from my experiences." The OP doesn't care about your background info and experiences. He wants useful suggestions, not Whack-a-Mole.
"Loose rocker arms? Shaft-mounted rocker arms are that way because they have to be, unlike stud-mounted rocker arms."...
I had hoped you would get the message from my earlier post. But here you go again:
A history of cast iron manifolds, cylinder heads and gaskets, full meal deals, a lesson on flattening the manifolds with a "rotating rock" machine, something about a 1955 265 Chevy engine, and something about a...
"but I don't have the knowledge to determine it myself."
Guys,
Please keep in mind what the OP stated about his experience with engines/valvetrains and keep your suggestions simple (like @detmatt did with his good troubleshooting suggestion). I've seen time and time again here where someone...
Thanks for further explaining your situation and considerations for your engine. Mission creep......yeah.
I have never seen positive-deck pistons in anything other that full-on race engines, but then again I haven't seen everything.
I betcha @Big_John has some useful advice. He knows...
Is the engine apart? If so I'm sure you know that you could deck the block (and intake rails) to get those pistons up from that very deep 0.95.
If it's still together, you should have some C/R choices with aftermarket heads. And use a steel shim head gasket (0.20) with several thin coats of...
I haven't seen that pic before. There is no way to know if it is or isn't in the Registry....need that VIN and I can't quite make it out in the photo.
But thanks for the alert. It looks like a pic from long ago but maybe someone here will recognize the time and place and the car...
They put it there because all they had to do was drill a hole in an unused bit of plastic inside the glovebox, instead of integrating it into the existing dashboard layout. And I'm guessing that it was also "groovy" and exotic to have that hidden button that your GF could push for you once you...
It's not odd, considering the era. Ergonomics, ease of use, ease of assembly and repair wasn't a big consideration back then, other than the obvious AC and radio controls that they bragged about in brochure marketing-talk. Most other items that drivers and mechanics had to deal with went...
Not my car (I have lots of Hurst pics), but no. Definitely not factory. There's no "R" code for factory kick panel speakers....you were lucky to get a single one in the back!
The pic of the engine hanging on the shop crane in a dirt driveway near a shadetree....just might be THE MOST CLASSIC image in this wonderful, long-running thread. Many of us have "been there".
That's me with the wrench, summer 1975. Tired 318 coming out of my 68 Dart, a serious 340...
Your releases are in their correct locations.
Pictured are Hursts, where the "hood" release is actually the trunk release. Otherwise, all the same setup.
Ahhhh.....I see the J99927 on the "Leonard Car" BSheet. I'm under the impression that the Fender Tag is not on the car right now. Just wondering if you have it somewhere. I've had both cars in the Registry for some time, just didn't have that Leonard VON. And now I have the console, clock...
@tallzag Can you please provide us (us meaning the Hurst Registry) the VON for the Hurst that I **think**you store for a friend of yours? The VIN is 199985, the Door Date is April, and the VON will be J995XX. I would be great to have those two Xs! I'm guessing they will be "27".
