I'll Chime in with same but different method too. undo the nut and wind it up to the top of the thread, so they are flush. Hammer the fork in to load the ball joint. a couple of light to medium taps on the top of the nut, use a piece of wood if hitting this makes you cringe, and it will pop...

Hi all. I have broken the spring on my push button cassette that controls the park lever. If anyone has one or you know where to get one would be greatly appreciated. It is in a 64 custom 880 but I would hazard to think they would be all fairly similar, but I could be wrong. Thanks. Tim

Thanks guys. I took your advise Yatzee and made one fit. I had a 2000 jeep unit sitting there and made it fit. It's so nice to not have to use 2 feet to stop now. It's only taken 3 years to annoy me enough to fix the problem :)
