In PA you can get a classic/antique tag for your car. This ops you out of inspections, but you are restricted as to where you can drive and I think 2000 miles a year.

Personally, I like having a real mechanic look over my car once a year. I haul the family around in it a lot. It cost me about $50 a year.

we've finished the first sanding, did the mud work, got the first coat of primer, now more block sanding

Did a little noise reduction on my 77 NYB. The door handle assembly on these cars is held in place with two aluminum pop rivets and over time they get loose and the one in my back door was chirping and driving me crazy. I drilled out the rivets and replaced them with bolts with locktite on the threads. I forgot to take pictures but if you own a Formal you probably already know what I'm referring to. It was not hard to do and I plan on doing it on each door as they're all somewhat loose. I notice something else is also pop riveted, probably something to do with the window mechanism, and would also probably benefit from the same mod.

Not what i did to any of them, but what I got for them, got a clean stub off a member, and a clean hood, trunk and fender off another member, 1250kms in a day and a bit and the old Blue bomber didn't even squint..

Cleaned her up and took her for about a 60 mile cruise. Beautiful day in northern Michigan.

Couple of old guy's hammering it out the old fashion way, Ray (my brother (71) did all the work, this buggy is laser straight, couple of stink bugs had to land on the hood, 3 coats so perhaps we can sand and buff in the spring, because of wind, temp and being tired we only got the front-end done

well, bad news, we were forced to admit defeat. painting a car outside is for the birds. My brother determined that there's too much dirt/debris in the paint to continue. we will have to redo the hood/fenders ie sand and reprime and look for a paint booth service. I'm embarrassed but since i don't live with any of you. don't hold it against me.

What about hanging some plastic from that canopy to restrict air flow. I've seen similar done with good results.

My window for temp at night has passed, no heat in the garage and my brothers free time as been taken by prior comments, I have located a local body shop who can take the job, but any $$$ i might have saved is out the window. i could just drive it the way it is. cheap way to get attention at the car shows

The ugly duckling gets lots of attention in it's current state. On the odd occasion someone will say something negative about it being on the show field (Carlisle). Most are reminiscing though.

Well, I took the car to a shop that paints old cars in Milwaukee. I had them do Base Coat, Clear. picked it up today. really love the color

yeah, I was shocked when my brother called with appointment, Chris, the owner, has a warehouse packed with different cars and projects. many of the cars are his that he's done over the years, for some reason he snuck us in between collision jobs which he also does. I know he has a 68 Newport Convertible white pearl paint with red interior which he would sell, i'd love to have it, but i'm broke.

Today I bypassed the non-working steering column mounted vacuum switch for the automatic parking brake release on my 77 New Yorker.

This pneumatic switch works like a charm. Now I just need to mount it in a handy spot under the dash.

Got the raptor liner all finished up. Now that the frame connectors and spring relocation kit are in I can get her on her own suspension.
