Junk yard find. 1974 Police Cruiser. While most police departments bought their cruisers from the PK package that was offered with a wide variety of options, not all of them did. Most police units were in the L or low priced range, the M class were usually Fury III units. This gem is in a junk yard in N Carolina. You may see it on a future episode of Junk Yard Gold.....MAYBE we will see. The second tag, vehicle image and engine were sent to us from a vehicle that is or was in Alabama.

Why so many 999 codes on the fender tag?

They indicate a non standard color or combination. For example, if the car required a special paint job like black body with white doors, it would be 999 paint with SPECIAL MASK on the tag.

In 1974 the M class is Fury II. Several entities sourced their police cars from this class, notably the Montana Highway Patrol.

For the inner upper door paint or door panel? I don’t know that model or year. Was the panel still painted or was there a full door panel? The answer is those questions.
