1970 Three Hundred convertible fender tag

@ayilar - I'm sorry, at the time I didn't save any additional information on that car.

1970 Three Hundred convertible fender tag

You are trying to get more out of a fender tag than was actually put into it. Consider the following broadcast sheet: It clearly states N88 "Auto Sp Control". Does the fender tag echo that? No, it doesn't. To understand why this is so, you have to know the specific plant's logic for...

1970 Three Hundred convertible fender tag

I wouldn't call them unreliable. It's more another way of coding things. As an example, take 1974 Fury III and Fury Gran, that had L25 Trunk Compartment Light as standard equipment. Belvidere tags show that L25 code but Newark tags do not.

1970 Three Hundred convertible fender tag

I think you nailed it! It's an East Jefferson fender tag we're talking about. Possibly they didn't note the G31 code as a matter of principle?

1970 Three Hundred convertible fender tag

On 1970 F Series Broadcast Sheets I see the following: Group G: Glass - Mirrors Pre-Printed Slot: 3- "Mirror O/S Rt." Inserted Value: 31 "Outside Right, Manual" Pre-Printed Slot: 3- "Remote Mir. Or Del." Inserted Value: 33 "Outside Left, Remote Control" So yes, on a broadcast sheet it can be...

Today's unsuspected barn find 1976 Town and Country

Great video! I like the criticism directed at Ford's pillared hardtop against the much more functional ChryCo solution with framed side glass. I bet Ford promotional material extolled the elegant frameless side glass over the stodgy appearance of its competitors. Chevrolet's clam shell is also...

Today's unsuspected barn find 1976 Town and Country

MDH stands for Month-Day-Hour. This abbreviation is printed in the left lower corner of the door sticker. The first four digits of the sequence that is stamped to the right of the abbreviation indicate the month and day. As to its function, the U.S. Statement of Compliance (SOC) label is...

1975 Imperial barn find Odd Trim tag 5 series

For the years 1965-1972 the first lettter of the code is the same letter as those used for identifying the introduction year of a certain body color. For instance, Chestnut Metallic was new for 1972. Its code on fender tags is HT8. The listed model code for the 1972 Imperial is HY-M.

A case of triple pickle, perhaps? The steering wheel is also green.

1975 Imperial barn find Odd Trim tag 5 series

When you google "5Y-M" "Imperial" several car facts sites pop up that use the code "5Y-M" for the 1975 Imperial. I think the first site to use this code was the German Wikipedia, from which it was copied by other sites. I have no idea where they found this code, but you can easily see that it...

1975 Imperial barn find Odd Trim tag 5 series

From the consolidated 1965-1978 model designation pages that @69CoronetRT once shared with us you can see that "series" had different meanings over the years. 1965-1968 meaning 'model year' 1973-1978 meaning 'price class' As a "5" price class never existed, it seems that on this 1975 fender...

1975 Imperial barn find Odd Trim tag 5 series

No, never seen such a second fender tag either. The first fender tag looks fairly normal. Everybody will have noticed that this is an early build: door sticker says August 12 [, 1974], first fender tag says SPN 101974. Maybe that has something to do with the second fender tag's content.

Voyager 1 and 2 still alive!!!! 38,000 mph!

The filament structure formed by visible matter is especially fascinating because it is the largest structure in the universe that can somewhow be imagined and visualized according to our brain's understanding. Visualizing the area (if you can call it an area, that is) where the universe is...

NOT MINE 1975 Plymouth Gran Fury Suburban wagon

I bet there existed a statistic somewhere saying that the most popular body color for Formal Dodge and Plymouth station wagons was tan, aka Parchment (Dodge) or Sahara Beige (Plymouth). Apart from this beautiful example, it recently also popped up on a 1974 Dodge.

A picture of the fender tag belonging to the car we're talking about would make this thread less theoretical.

NOT MINE One sad '77 New Yorker junker for $7k.

Like in "He ran the 100 meters in record time"? To 99.99% of us, ''record time" means 'the shortest time one can imagine'. Typical case of probable vs. possible interpretation of an utterance.
