Issues with cam bearings and clearances. Cam will not fit.

Are these cam bearing installation tools the 'universal' ones? After a buddy of mine had problems with just about every single Mopar engine build, I made my own cam install tool. Built several engines over the years and never had a problem so long as the cam was on size and straight. Yes, I have...

What did you name your car?

Never named any of my cars but did several trucks for some reason. The first time to name a truck was lots of years ago and 'it's' name was Edna. The name came from the song Edna. The truck was whipped and beat but fixed all the areas that were beat including replacing the original bucket seats...

8 3/4 pinion seal and rear axle collar adjuster

You pull the spider gear shaft out and that will free the thrust spacer. You may have to remove the ring gear to get that spider gear shaft out. There's a cotter pin that needs to be driven out before the shaft can be removed. Once the cotter pin is out, take a drift and tap the shaft on both...

If your thrust button fell out, that means you had the clutch type SG and not the cone type. The thrust button in the cone type is trapped by the differential itself but not so with the clutch type....but I like to pull them out of both types. I've built several complete rear ends over the years...

    Which engine is this?

The valve covers are probably from 'Mopar Performance' and that's what it says on them.

    Old stuff you still use.

Chlordane.....my insurance agent gave it to me about 37 years ago when I asked him what works for termites. The bottle (from the 60's had 'Fireant Killer' on it). I knew it had been banned so did some research on how to use it. Been here going on 41 years and haven't seen a termite since! I know...

They are an easier way to go but, if you like to corner carve, then the tapered bearings are a better way to go. A single ball bearing per side doesn't take side loading as good as the tapered bearings do.

Keep in mind that anything new you get will most likely be from China. Also depending on the gears you get, pay attention to the radius at the bearing fit. Shim fit is important there as some of this overseas stuff will have a larger radius and can interfere with the shims. A larger radius is...
