I believe that I made it clear that sealant is not necessary on these NPT fittings. Tighten them. That is the concept of pipe thread. Teflon tape in this application is worse. But if you want to use some goop or thread sealant….have at it.

    Rear window gasket 68 LeVaron

Imperial followers know, and other astute observers I'm sure as well, about the small rear window on the LeBaron model. The standard leak and nasty rust at the base of the window requires removal, repair and reinstalling the subject glass. Steele does not offer the gasket and Google comes up...

Rebuilding my 1966 Plymouth Sport Fury...

Hello everyone.. stoked to be here. A few years back I purchased a 1966 Plymouth Sport Fury. White, with black vinyl top,( now stripped off, it was garbage!) and Gold interior. 318 Poly, which is currently being completely rebuilt by GRC Racing in San Diego. I have had the trans, 727, completely...

Oops I didn't even notice that this was an old thread. I thought it'd be NPT - that needs sealant doesn't it? Never been a fan of teflon tape in these applications because when you remove it, you can get bits of it inside the system.

    68' 300 Exhaust

Hi Ray, Welcome to our forum we are happy to have you. Rob (or @1968Chryslers) can hopefully likely help you with ideas on this as he put new exhausts on a couple of his 68 300s that are on the quieter side…, BUT all of them DO NOT have headers either though. Yes, definitely a stainless system...

yes. let me expand... #4529 is almost assuredly fake. in post 4528, starting at the top as "1", the first 6 are 'real' most likely; the one with the cop and the Ford is colourised, but the photo appears to be real. Numbers 7, 8 and 10 are fake as a three dollar bill. Number 9 is a maybe, but Im...

    Oil Pressure Gauge Install

No sealant. Pipe thread seals against the male OD and female ID threads by being tightened together. It’s a taper fit. Others will tell you to use Teflon tape. But Teflon is slippery stuff and can allow a fitting in a high vibration environment to unscrew itself. Tighten the fittings like...

What sealant do you use if it doesn't come with any? Just regular red blue loctite?

    68' 300 Exhaust

Headers and "ease of maintenance" usually don't go together in my experience. For my Fury, I put some decent (HP) manifolds on and installed a TTI 2.5" dual exhaust kit almost 20 years ago. It's still holding up nicely and i've had it in and out a few times, about 45k miles. Buy once cry once...

    Group 24, 27 or 34 battery? Good brand? Marine/RV ?

My neighbor two houses ago in Kalifornia had a JC Penney lifetime battery in his 65 Mustang. Penney’s sold the warranties to Firestone. I think he had that battery replaced three times when I knew him… Those days are long gone…
