    WANTED Headlight Motor 1970 300

While the motors seem to be interchangeable, different applications had differently shaped switching cams sitting on top of the gear, allowing for different length of travel. These cams can be identified by their color. In a 1972 MTSC booklet the following are listed: Red -- Plymouth and Dodge...

    68 300 upgrades from stock (cams/heads etc.)

Thanks. Any cam recommendations? I’ll eventually be that deep into it. Also looking to add 440 source aluminum heads. No comp cams, or lunati though. Had parts fail from those manufacturers.

Valve spring shim ID too large..problems?

...Lunati springs for the cam. Single spring with a dampener. Yes I saw ISKY have the correct size shim but I haven’t found them stocked in Australia..just mostly cams etc. worst case, I’ll need to buy them in the USA and wait for shipping..but was hoping to get sorted sooner rather than later.

...after over-advancing timing might provide substantiation of this as a general cause/effect relationship. I concur. -12.5 degrees is a good, safe idle timing for our B/RB machines running stock cams. I make it a default starting point when tuning any of them, if I see no reason to do...

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

For sure. I got 7 Mopar's and with the exception of a couple of distributors and window switches all the parts are Mopar. I think.

    440 TNT rebuild

If you stay under .500 lift camshaft, you will not need any valve relief, use one of the cams cbody67 suggested and you will be fine. Just an FYI I have run the Mopar .509 hydraulic and the .528 mechanical cams with stock 69 HP pistons and 906 heads milled 0.050, WITH a modern felpro gasket that...

1966 New Yorker low oil pressure question

The reason for 15w40 is it's a HD diesel oil and still has an acceptable level of zinc and phosphorus that flat tappet cams need. Regular 10w30 passenger car oils don't have enough anymore. It will pump just fine. Kevin

What is going on with my valve train?!?!?!?!

I've been using Crane adjustable rockers on Isky Hydraulic cams for over 50 years with no problems. What do the push rods look like? Are these 440 Source's parts?

what is best oil to use on 1978 Chrysler with 400 engine?

I've done a bit of research and I'd say that the best oil for any of these engines with flat tappet cams is Amsoil classic and hot rod oil. (Amsoil Z-rod).

...came with the short block from a dead beat old customer. It is a Comp and I would not have gone that route. Been bitten a few times. Howards have a good product, I have been told a few times that they do the cams for Hughes Engines. Might check if the have any RV cams. I took a look. |...

    Cam selection for a 66 383

...soggy in a C-body, unless you install a higher-stall converter and some gears? Here's something I saw recently from @Ripinator. He has a 440 with -516s, so your 383 with the same heads will sound a little more aggressive. COMP Cams 21-222-4 COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Camshafts | Summit Racing

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

You have VA tied to manifold vacuum not ported vacuum then? I've rarely had OEM cam but 500rpm is low to me even if the fsm says so. 700-800 for me with RV cams. Lets the alt charge a bit better and water pump run a little faster at idle.

...to be 900ppm or "car" zddp, which is just below the old "SL" rating, which was the last oil rating considered to be tolerable with flat tappet cams. The same rating for the VW cams which ran their high-pressure diesel pumps directly off of a cam lobe. Interestingly, it seems that many gas...
