Well, here it is. Rivet very loose and foot looks worn out. Only needs about a 1/64 because testing the switch shows only one tiny spot on travel gives continuity.

Well the pawl or comb is worn out. Looks like someone tried to adjust it in the past and the rivet that holds the foot is loose and the pawl arm looks like someone tried to bend it and prob broke it.

Something don't add up to me. In reverse I should have continuity. Switch is out more in reverse but if I push it in more I get continuity. In park and other gears I have no continuity which should be right. Bench tested, switch seems to work backwards. How could I get so many bad switches?

Pulled switch and the new Chinese junk is broke. Plastic is stuck in and shorted. Installed new trw and checked continuity and switch works correct if I put my finger in trans and push switch in more. Pawl won't push switch enough.

Ok. Pulled pan and I have the correct pawl according to pictures. However the plastic plunger stays pressed in in any position and the small metal tip stays pushed in in every position except in reverse it might move 1/32 of an inch. Can barely see it move. Added some pictures.

Another question ❓. How many volts runs the dash lamps? I only have have two dim lamps above the dash and want to add led lamps. If I plug the harness across the battery with 194 bulbs, I get nothing. I know they work. If I plug in the 2 led bulbs, the wiring gets hot.

I got the trans for $100 and $300 for the rebuild thru a friend. Actually looked older than my original but no idea what year. I checked the trans and recheck the switch once I get it out. Don't know if I had lights after that. My son noticed one day the lights didn't work.

Well. Old fart me haha. Switch on trans test good independently but trans is not working. No continuity in any position.

Just remembered I had trans rebuilt last year so maybe I'm getting neutral safety but not reverse. I'm told there may be different parts in different age trans. It was not my original because the sun gears had blown up.

I totally made a new harness yesterday from transmission to fuse box as it had been patched several times. I have great continuity from trans to fuse box, across fuses, and from connector in left kick panel to lights. Replaced trans switch and still likes don't work. Checked trans and...

Ignore the heavy red marks. They were in book when I got it. Diagram shows white wires coming into and leaving fuse box. Diagram shows connector and turns to violet on other connector. Hots and grounds and fuses test good in fuse box. Lights work when applying power to violet wire.

The trans has the 3 wire switch and neutral switch works fine. One side of b/I switch and other side hot. Can't get lights to work or find which leg is not working. According to fsm switch closes and completes circuit but even operating another switch by hand and grounded. Lights won't come...
