67 Polara - Can I Do Shocks and Struts at Home?

KYB Gas-A-Just shocks make a GREAT bang for the buck! I use bailing wire to tie the front ones down short until I get them installed, then snip it and ride smooooth! I noticed a VERY OLD pair on my '83 D150 too when I first got it.

Leaf spring differences for 68 C-bodies and maybe other years. Soft to Firm.

Installed one other spring and new KYB Gas Adjust shocks. I took it for a quick 20 mile shakedown from bumpy county roads to the interstate with about 3/4 tank of gas. Can really feel the difference in the ride. Not so much harsh, but firmer. Handled the bumps and corners much better. It seems...

    Is KYB "Losing It's Stuff?"

About ten years ago I installed the silver KYB shocks on a customer's Ford Expedition. Right out of the box they appeared undersized compared to the original shocks on the truck. Within 6 months they were bouncier than the 320K mile originals that I took off. I don't like the silver KYB's and...

They were one of the go-to vendors with a good reputation, but in the last few years it seems like nothing but complaints about them. Importing car parts is not cheap, or cars for that matter, the AUS$ is shithouse at the moment.

What did you do to your C-body today....

I did the front shocks today on my '70 300. I did the rears a couple weeks ago. KYB stopped strapping the shocks a while ago, so I used my press to collapse them and some Harbor Freight zip ties. The old shocks (not gas charged) fought me a bit, and I knew the new ones would be worse, so I...

1966 Imperial front shock retrofit (Ridetech)

You can get the shocks spec a linked to in Bilstein from FirmFeel.com and PST. The rear are a couple inches short for the Fuselage Imperial, but might be a good fit for you. Fronts would be a good fit and ride over the KYB. https://firmfeel.com/c_body_mopar_shocks.html

...but acted normally as to stiffening up for big bumps and rough roads. Be advised that Bilsteins are high-pressure gas shocks. IF you had issues with the KYB front shocks (mid-prfessure gas shocks), you certainly will have problem with the higher-pressure Bilsteins. Just my experiences, CBODY67
