This one took a lucky guess, but I got it pretty quickly.

The oil pressure switch, or sending unit, is at the rear upper part of the engine, behind the intake manifold and valley pan. The switch or sensor is on the driver side. A switch can be seen in its location in the following image: Another, larger port with 1/4" NPT threads is on the passenger...

I do have an electric choke so not too much of a concern there. Intending on getting a 3 pin oil pressure switch so I can have it only run when the oil pressure light is off.

The added carbon would act like a heat insulator, especially with the OEM divorced choke. Heat would not get to the thermostat to let the choke open quick enough. Seemed to be more prevalent on LA engines (than B/RB engines) if the cars were only used in town and never got onto the highway...

If it's like my 67 383, it should be at the back of the engine at the top of the gearbox bell housing. There may be a plugged port next to it if you need to use that for something else.

In a way wouldn't a restricted heat crossover also do what a smaller hole in the valley pan gasket as well? My intake is definitely a new aluminum one though.

Unless you put on a new aluminum intake, you might need to clean out the carbon in the existing heat crossover. With time, they CAN become restricted and not flow like they should. A clean passage can ensure the modified valley pan gasket does what you desire it to. Enjoy! CBODY67
