The Van Lee Iacocca pitched to Ford before he joined Chrysler

A lot of what you've speculated about w.r.t. the Daimler-Chrysler "merger of equals" was the topic of the book "Taken for a Ride: How Daimler-Benz Drove Off With Chrysler". It's an interesting read. There is one important detail that they don't cover too well, because the people in the know...

    C body plant to close

I for one am very happy of my 2014 Fiat Freemont AWD 3.6L Pentastar, for the most part has been trouble free (apart for electronic glitches). Rebadged Dodge Journey. It got some changes for the European market - better suspension, steering, and brakes. For the price point, nothing could beat it.

Uncle Tony's flat tappet woes of late

Sealed power lifters are made by Eaton. They are made mostly in China and India. Otherwise known as white box China Crap, reboxed by various cam manufacturers and sealed power. Like most every thing else made in China, quality control is problematic at best and the roller cam stuff made there...

...axle is an orphan specific to the application so even a 2 speed diff is a no go. That would be the easy button solution if it used a generic Eaton or Rockwell axle. At least the Scenicruiser is a T drive so you have a few transmission options that have a few more gears but are short enough...

Friend Dave, I'm implying that EATON has a track record longer then most memories. Do what you want Pal, I don't spend your money. I just don't like to do anything twice and I know how to find good stuff when I need it as opposed to shopping shopping shopping and maybe saving a whole dime. BTW...

    Rear end experts

The Eaton true track is a torsion type differential with no clutch packs. It functions as an open differential when both wheels have equal traction. If one wheel loses traction the gears in the center section bind together and torque is applied to the wheel with good traction. The torsion...

...on there for many years so I’m not exactly sure what back spacing I have to be honest. We have three 65 Sport Fury’s all run 275:60 in the back with no issues, two of the cars have SS springs from Eaton with an extra Inch in the arch, the other car is running the original leaf springs and setup.

...As I said with the Scenicruiser, you should have some options as far as transmissions go. If there was room, my first choice would be a 13spd Eaton, not because you need 13 gears but because it has an air shift auxiliary allows you to split each gear. I'm almost certain there isn't enough...

What and where to order a sure grip

As a GM truck guy (no hate please) I have no love or praise for GM's (Eaton) Gov-Lock. Worst OE traction device ever, and in the vast majority of applications it is fragile and prone to spectacular failures. My criticism is that it takes differential wheel speed to make it engage, so when it...
