Is there a casting # on that hood ornament? That might tell some more info - if it's an early enough number, I think that might possibly be the hood ornament for the scuttled 1966 300 Hemi M that was rumoured to be built in mid 1965... there was a sail panel M emblem as well that was around a...

Pedal set will work from 65-68. Booster from 65 - 69 or mid 70.

I revised my post - there shouldn't be too much play, so it's possible the internals are worn.

I'm not so sure a shim in there would be a good idea - there needs to be some play in that a coupler by design. Regardless, the parts that are in there. Now could very well have worn out and the job to replace them there's not that particularly challenging, although getting it off the spline...

The weight is to be low when the valve inside is open. The thermo-spring pulls the weight up when it's cold, and relaxes when warm, so the weight drops (rotates actually, due to gravity), and in the process, the valve is opened inside the manifold. New heat riser parts are available here...
