73 Imperial "McGoldy" to join the Minnesota herd.

Asked them to recheck all the air conditioning components for leakage...all is good and stable for now. I don't have functional cooling with any of the Imperials...which is not a concern for me. I want to keep all of those pieces intact for the next caretaker, though...

What I learned about 74-78 ATC II

Please don't start a new thread... I like this one. Too many threads will just make the search more difficult later. Also, don't think you can create an uncluttered thread here and keep it that way... I'm halfway surprised this one hasn't gotten to weather conversations or bikini pics yet...

    1973 Newport, and Imperial

I think if you avoid Autotemp II that way, it’s not a bad idea. :) The stub isn’t the same. I am not knowledgeable enough to know of stubs will line up but I suspect the creases and character lines won’t match. Interior will be totally different too. Unless you’re trying to do something like a...

AutoTemp II is our favorite whipping boy around here. Use the forum Search and get a lot of background. It will tell you far more than can be squeezed into one thread.

Help with valuation (at NYC prices) please

No it doesn't have Autotemp II and it's too tight overall to have high mileage. The resto shop who did the work seems to concur. My uncle bought it used in 1977 and retired it in 1978 claiming he wasn't pleased with the mileage and hated 2 Door cars. I got the car in 1983, at which time it...

General Questions on a 1977 Newport

...It will take about two hours to read and digest it all so feel free to share it with a local mechanic willing to learn. If it helps, the AutoTemp II system took me about 24 hours of labor to get working and about $500 in parts and spares. The A/C and Heater, starting with the cooling system...

...tuneup or service. Lots of funky a/c hoses and discription of special “toggle switch” to get it to work is worrisome as this in an AutoTemp II car. Getting one back up and running properly can be pricy but very possible depending on the amount of damage done in the custom “repair” Repaint...

...the brake pedal also helps tell a story, where the metal trim tends to wear an edge on it after around 80K or so, maybe more miles, if not much city driving. That would be important to know when trying to estimate value. And I assume since it is low optioned, it doesn't have autotemp II...

Switching auto temp AC controls out for manual controls?

You can get ATC II to work fine using the Performance Analysis underhood servo that they supply, and were used in some Mercedes models as well. Yes, they are around $600, but they work and no need to swap out systems. Performance Analysis | Climate Control | Diaphragms | Blower Motors |...

    1972 Heater / AC box

Hi, The AutoTemp II system in my '72 coupe isn't working anymore. Now I want to check if all the parts are still there. What's the best way to check if the heater / AC box is still in place? I know it's under the passenger side of the dash but I don't know where exactly and how to reach it...
