Best way to mount hoist to 400 big block? First time pulling motor.

As stated in the title, this is my first time pulling any motor. It’s my first real project car, and I’ve already learned a lot. From what I can tell, my 73 Newport with a 400 in it is locked up. Turning the crank by hand is impossible. Regardless, Ive decided I’d like to rebuild the motor, so...

    383 keeps breaking mount

Putting my stock 383 Belvedere wagon together, I just used Anchor brand motor mounts as stocked by most local auto parts stores. The first drivers side mount broke and damaged the hood before we even had 50 miles on the car. Thought it was defective. The replacement Anchor mount broke taking off...

    440 in a Slant 6 engine compartment 65 Fury

You should talk to the folks at Imperial Services or 440 Source before you dive in. They may have the solution for the driver side motor mount issue. It is as much the mounting surface on the block as it is the mount. Mark

    Vibrations in drive shaft

Yes check the u-joints for slop or damage. Also if your rear springs are really sagging the pinion angel can change and cause a vibration. Also check you motor and transmission mounts I have seen a rear trans mount fail and cause a vibration that I thought was a driveshaft issue.

    383 keeps breaking mount

There IS a reason that type of motor mount fails! Any guesses as to what it might be? Stay away from NOS mounts as the rubber in them is as old as the last model year that mount was used, most probably. As mentioned, you can drill a hole through that style of mount and put a bolt through it...

    Rear transmission extension question

...to twist or otherwise allow the trans tail to move from its centerline. I have seen them missing a bolt and still sitting in the proper location, no vibration. Maybe not a lot of stress in this area, just a good bit of weight?? Probably a real issue if one of the motor mounts breaks too.

NOT MINE Red 1970 Chrysler Newport convertible auctioned off in Indiana

...May, it got new 17" torque thrusts, all new ignition, rebuilt carb (it had been 4bbl swapped), new radiator, new fan, new water pump, new motor mounts (motor mount broke on WOT and slung the fan into the rad). By the end of the summer, it will have a front disc conversion and new TTI exhaust.

[1966 Fury II] 383 to 440 Engine mount question

Don't use Anchor brand motor mounts. At least not on the driver's side, if you want the engine to stay in place when you rev it. Went through two Anchor motor mounts in three weeks and gouged the paint on the bottom of my hood before I found another brand of motor mount at NAPA that fits better...

    383 keeps breaking mount

I chained the 383 in 'Tilly for years, until I got a cable to do the same. There is now at least ONE source of after market torque cables made for B/RB engine mounts. It might be 440 source. I always tether that driver side down, and LO! the mounts remain intact!

1958 Plymouth Suburban, 2 door wagon

...The '58 Dodge ones were basically straight in the middle, and the '58 Plymouth ones turn back toward the firewall. So I had to swap the motor mounts on the engine, drivers side to passenger, as well as move them to the backside of the block. The drivers fits, the passenger side doesn't, so I...

    440 in a Slant 6 engine compartment 65 Fury

I believe the spots that the motor mounts bolt onto are different on a /6 stubframe...normally you would bolt on an entire front stubframe from a V8 car, preferrably a big block one that had the larger torsion and sway bars anyway...at least, that's the "no welding or fabrication"...

    Dealership code question.

There is an "orig. date" column in the 1986 Dealer Directory. That date is probably related to the agreement that was valid at that moment. For instance, Slate Motor Co, Mount Airy, NC, became a Chrysler-Plymouth dealer in 1964. But their dealership code 64220 points to a Direct Dealer Agreement...

    Engine Advice Needed

I would highly syspectg it should "bolt right in" with no issues . . . BUT there might be some differences in the motor mount type and mounting, between the model years involved. Also, there might be some differences in the way the accessories mount to the block, which could mean that you use...
