    The booster (which was bad) that was in the car when I bought it was not correct. I bought the one in the car from Booster Dewey as it was all he had in stock and I didn't have the correct core to rebuild.

    Well, it's probably not the case here,but...... a number of years ago I bought a '69 Charger that had the same treatment, but in black. Upon closer inspection, it turned out they just covered over a PERFECT interior with that crap, preserving it for eternity. :thumbsup:

You can use Remflex gaskets which seal very well, but have caused me issues in the past in that application as they require 20 lb. of torque so as to not over crush the gasket.
