    RV2 Compressor Rebuild

I am trying to do more work on the 73 Plymouth Fury as it is sitting waiting on its carburetor to come back. The air conditioning and heater need work so I am getting it going. The compressor would only turn 3/4 of the way, then it would stop and could be rotated backwards to the same spot...

NOT MINE '68 Fury - Claimed low mileage.

If they had time to put those wheels/tires on it they had time to fix the exhaust leak. Must've been stored with a lot of moisture changes, the underhood shows a lot of tarnishing. Esp rearward of the fendertag - I've never seen surface rust like that in that location before.

NOT MINE 1971 Imperial LeBaron 4dr on eBay

The factory power antenna doesn't retract all the way down, it stays up about 8-12 inches. It's also thicker than this one and has a stainless bead at the top, where as this one is black.

Old but useful painting trick ..

Looks great! That technique is basically the same as ye olde "lace" custom paint embellishment, typically seen on lowriders.

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

O n my '80 Newport 360 BBD 2bbl, the reason it was traded-in was that once it got off of the fast idle cam, it would not idle. Multiple efforts to fix it had failed. On the main system, it ran fine. Even when at 60mph, coasting to an off-ramp, the engine would die. It would always re-start...

That's a great find, thank you. Perfect pic of the FTag....and a pic of the Door Sticker that can't quite be made out. Grrrr..... Anyone a pixel expert out there who could enhance the pic and make it out? I'll be adding it to the Registry later today. Interesting that it's Cruise, but no...

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Yes, current fuels are MORE volatile than the fuels the cars were designed with. Which means any air/fuel ratio should be more homogenized when it gets to the valve (prior to getting into the combustion chamber), For the same reason the fuel bowl can "dry out" after the engine sits, not...

NOT MINE 1971 Imperial LeBaron 4dr on eBay

Front passenger fender is what I expected as all my mopars are like that. Obviously, I have not seen the power antenna/retractable set up.

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Is the carb. new or has it been rebuilt? Maybe the idle circuit is dirty or clogged. If that is the case then it could run good off idle but keep stalling when you stop. My friends 340 Cuda had that problem, and he had the idle very high, around 1200-1400 RPM. The carb. was an old Edelbrock...

No, and no. Factory power antenna would be on front passenger side fender and is a different style, but similar to this one.

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Never had any issues with FSM idle speeds. Maybe 50rpm more, but no more. Even the "small" factory a/c alternator did well at that lower speed. But then, too, with a Group 27 battery, a good bit of reserve. Here's a proposal . . . put the vac advance at ported vac and put the hot base idle...

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

With the cam timing advanced, you may need to idle a little higher. 650-700 RPM is not excessive. You are also running on today's gas and not what was available when the FSMs were written.

Thanks Welder guy! About contact clue, we just sprayed clue only back of the fabric, all fabric not only edges, important is time window when you put the fabric over the surface, not too tacky but enough to stick in place . That time can vary depending on temperature, clue and so on.. testing...
