    Muffler for 1976 Newport w/ 360CI?

In looking for a Walker Exhaust muffler, OEM fit, I came up with a SoundFX Direct Fit, going into a 1975 Plymouth Gran Fury 360 2bbl listing, and came across a "18340" muffler with 2.5" ID entrance pipe and a 2.25" ID exit. Oval 9.75" wide and 29.25" overall length. Seems like I found that...

    Cruise control

You can download a Chrysler factory service manual from www.mymopar.com . There might not be a listing for your model year, but the latest one in their list will work. The earlier cruise control transducers had two little Allen head set screws on the housing. One was for the "set" function...

    1978 Lean Burn Conversion

The GM HEI module also needs a dab of heat sink grease under it so it does not overheat and fail. Might need to snip off the locating tangs so it'll be flat on its new mounting surface Mentioning this "for the record", no more, no less. FWIW Thanks for that link and illustration! CBODY67

    1978 Lean Burn Conversion

The "Dead Dodge Garage" YouTuber has a simple schematic of how to replace the Chrysler box with a GM HEI module. Just some wires. Using the HEI module is how Davis Unified Ignition began his business, years ago. In some cases, the HEI module was mounted in the open air, to keep it cool, on...

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

Take that torque difference at the flywheel and decrease it by about 17% to see how much is at the rear wheels. Main difference is in the rpm level, I suspect. IF the rpms are accurate.

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

"Keeping up with traffic" is always a variable situation. Are we talking about 80mph on the Interstates? 0-35mph in town? Or the off-idle torque feel of things (whether from actual torque or gearing-related torque)? Metro rather than country can make a big difference, too. NOT to forget that...

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

Modifying a heavier car is a bit different than a lighter car, as a B-body. The Formals already came with some upgrades from the Fuselage cars. Larger cross-section log exhaust manifolds and exhaust pipe sizes were upgraded to close to 2.5" diameter, in many cases. These things could be seen...

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

Neither are going to be "fast" or "quick", considering their 4500lb + weight. Get one with the 2.71 rear axle ratio. I would suspect the 400 would get better highway mileage, but that could be a wash. In 1974, in the "heat" of a "fuel crisis", Fenner Tubbs C-P took one of each of their demo...

Rock Auto trivia question: How many Monaco & Gran Fury's were destroyed during filming The Blues Brothers in 1979?

It is EASY to put a 440 or 400 in a R-car. Just need the Gen I Cordoba front k-frame stuff. Plus ONE hose to the a/c compressor. But a stroker LA can get the same power if not more.

Rock Auto trivia question: How many Monaco & Gran Fury's were destroyed during filming The Blues Brothers in 1979?

R-bodies did not have the "Cop 440",which meant they were not the baddest cop cars around. Plus, total production of any R-body was miniscule compared to the Formals, especially the St Regis V-8s. Not all of the Formals in the wreck scenes were factory dual exhaust cars.

Vacuum Line diagram for 1976 5.9 w/ 2 barrel Holley

What kind of swap were you doing? Usually, the FSM had these things in them, which means you'd need to find a paper version as they are not online yet. In some cases, if you know the operation of the various things, it can be figured out without the diagram. I believe your car should have a...

77 NYB - turn signal flasher location?

What I discovered is that with the front seat pushed back a bit, I could rotate and hang my knees over the seat back, with my shoulders resting on the floorpan, which gave me a solid and comfortable position in which I could gaze at the undersides of the instrument panel and concentrate on what...

In general, about 1/2 to 3/4 of those populations in the Chicago area? In that giant crash scene, it became obvious that not all of them were dual exhaust cars.

    Next steps? '77 NYB w/400 4-bbl

If the distributor and orange box came in a "kit", it might well be the Mopar Perf kit to convert points ignition to electronic ignition. The great thing about those kits was that they had OEM-level parts and wiring harness for a reasonably easy plug-n-play installation. A good strategic...

    Next steps? '77 NYB w/400 4-bbl

Y'all need to fully research the LB system and how it changed from year to year, in order to "work around" it. BUT, as I recall, ONE thing is that the advance curve calibrations are in the computer, not the distributor. So, if you unplug the computer, then whatever advance is then in the...

78 new Yorker fan shroud repair

Not sure of the particular blend of plastic/resin they are made from, but you might shop the local Home Depot for adhesives for construction purposes. Might need to scuff the edges to be joined a bit for good measure. THEN hope the stuff sticks over time. Just a thought, CBODY67

    Plug wires.

An observed issue with many wire sets is that they can consolidate applications under one part number of wires. Which can result in some being a bit longer than normal, in some cases. So seeking to make some work where they were not really designed to fir from the factory. Somewhere in the...

    1978 New Yorker build thread

A NY with no tilt wheel seems a bit unusual, to me. BTAIM Fix the under-vinyl issues and repaint the top a metallic black rather than a non-metallic black, with the stock top moldings in place. That way, it looks a bit different but not wildly so. Over the past few years, there was a '58 NY...
