If I’m not mistaken, the headlight doors open when there is a burnt out headlight. The ground runs through the filament, so when that happens the doors open and stay open so you can address the problem.

Ok, I have thumbed through the assembly manuals and the FSM and the internet, but I cannot find a picture or diagram of how the power top cylinders connect to the top frame. Does anyone have a pic of or an FSM page number where I can find this information? I'm also missing a small spring...

Very funny. Hard to be a contemporary with a fictional character from the 1930's, but whatever. I thought this was a real outreach with a former Chrysler exec. Those missing documents are probably at the bottom of a local landfill. Best bet is to grab a shovel and start digging.

I sourced my motor from a '78 New Yorker. The '69 motor takes a different torsion rod than the '70+, and I'm not certain, but I think the '69 rotates in the opposite direction of the '70 and up. There is a sticker on the top of the hood latch deck area that shows rotation of the motor. ‘69...

Those switches can be finicky. You might need take it apart and clean the contacts. There is a procedure in the FSM on how to jump the switch pins to get power to the motor and check the action and test the switch. There is a member here that rebuilds the switches as well, @Devinism.
