1966 Fury III - Unfinished Project

Haven't been doing much on the cars lately, it's been either too wet or I've had other things around the house to be taking care of.

Uh. I put the battery on charge. Some wasps have moved in. Been working on a new acquisition. Phil

Yeah, getting it up and over the slam panel is awkward.

I forget from when I pulled the engine last- it's probably easier to pull just the motor and leave the transmission in place on a C body? Phil

Seems that cleaned it out too well. All the coolant ran away. Ordered a new freeze plug set. Really need to pull the engine; running the front brake hard line will be easier and I've got some welding to do so, I guess the old heave ho going to happen again. Phil

There we go. That should slow the corrosion down a touch. Phil

Cold weather has gone away, back to being in the 70's. Took a look in the radiator and observed an unhappy volume of brown sludge, dried up after a week empty. Added some dishwasher soap, filled up with water and ran it unpressurized until it boiled. Blorp. Drained and flushed repeatedly...

Nothing of any great substance. This is to be a windy cold snap- I am more concerned for the radiator. That's totally empty. Phil

Yessir, there sure are. It's the later version than the car originally had. I prefer dual circuit brakes if the conversion is readily available. Phil

...and another. The next few need for the car to be jacked up. Ran out of light today. Phil

Thanks. This has a lug; i think I'll just cut it off, the chassis leg doesn't have the hole to position it. Phil

I'm guessing that's the original mounting bolt for the single brake system pipe distribution block? How y'all mounted the dual version from later models? Phil

...why does the brake system use THREE different union sizes?! Nonsense.

1966 Fury III - Unfinished Project

...just went look for the flexible hoses for the brakes. Nope! No idea where they went to so I guess I'll order a new set, some wheel cylinders, hard lines and fittings. Phil

Nothing like the crunch of glass as the metal begins to tear and still not want to move. That does at least now represent all the bulb holders on the back of the car freed up, that was the passenger side reverse lamp, the wiring for which had been unhooked and tucked down by the lock mechanism...

1966 Fury III - Unfinished Project

Didn't do much lately with the holidays, but I did manage to wrangle a broken bulb from a rusty socket in the trunk. Not much but it needed doing.
