    No lights.

I suspect either the red or black power feed to the ammeter among other circuits will read DEAD. In fact, it should be that from the battery, which, on my '68 Newport is RED. DO check power into the headlight switch and trace that back. Your power outage is major, and can only come from one...

    No lights.

I suggest you check power IN to the headlight switch. No horn might be a separate issue, or not. Get a volt-ohmeter, and start checking power at the fusebox, then the bulkhead connector. Crap like power windows and seats get fed from breakers, usually behind the driver side kick panel. I...

    What is your daily driver?

Driving my '83 Dodge D150 Miser these daze. The /6 w A833 w overdrive and Lean Burn was designed for pretty optimal gas mileage in its day. Mind you all, the Lean Burn had burned out by the time I bought the truck 2 yrs ago, so I just installed an electronic ignition with the single pole...

    Help No electrical power

Delighted to be of any help. DO buy some larger wire. You want maximum voltage delivery.

    Help No electrical power

    I WISH I had a '65 Anything in Mopar C body! I have a running '68, and a wrecked '66. Our '68, Gertrude is quite a find! Literally rescued from a barn around Douglas, AZ, Gertrude now runs a '65 383, bored .040" over w 915 heads, a 65 4V intake w an Edelbrock 1405, a 742 rear end at 3.23:1...

    Help No electrical power

You got a good start on that bypass then. Run a nice hefty wire from your starter relay, through a grommet in the firewall, direct to the lugged together leads formerly across that ammeter. Put your fusible link between the starter relay and the battery. I can show you how I have mine if you...

    Help No electrical power

From what you've posted, initial symptoms and the steps you've taken prior to today, I'm nearly certain the ammeter caused your problem. Why? You had some power to 2 circuits not connected to the central ones wired off that main trunk loop of battery <-->alternator through the ammeter...

Federal power steering pump rebuild kit?

Looks like a good alternative to Lares, if they're taking too long. These pumps are pretty simple. I saw that in some ways, the Federal was like a backward version of the Thompson. Neither of these are too complicated. If I had a somewhat later model C body, I suspect the Federal would...

Federal power steering pump rebuild kit?

IDK about a FEDERAL kit, but the TRW kit I got off Rock Auto did nicely for the old pump I resealed, and now am using. Having a pair of these big old TRW pumps now, I reckon I'll never bother w the Saginaw rig I got w that 400. I like the TRW pumps just fine, complete w the self-tensioning...

    What is your daily driver?

Great Minds think alike! GM has been the model for the likes of Micro$lop and Intel. I admit to having had a few over the course of a long life of driving used Detroit steel. the '64 El Cumeano was the only one I really enjoyed having, though admittedly, when piss poor off the street and...

    What is your daily driver?

The 2 bbl Cleveland had closed chamber heads on the 70 2 bbl, which gave it GREAT low end punch. The more famous 4 bbl heads with the huge slopey angle valves breathed well, so wound up to high revs well, until the damned 335 block's poor oiling failed those heads, and SCREEEE BANG! IDK how...

    What is your daily driver?

Lovely rides! I had a 1970 'Stang w a 351 Cleveland which shut down MANY other makes of the period. Pity I was just 17-18 when I had that. No kid should own stuff like these cars. What a pity Mopar dropped canted angle valves with the Poly. Ford did well with their Boss heads for some years.

Olds was my fave GM division! Gimme a 66 Cutlass w a 455 Rocket! Vroom!

    What is your daily driver?

OLD Mopar or NO CAR! We drive our 1968 Newport convertible, which, with the fresh 915 heads on the 1966 model 383 I salvaged from our '66, runs as strong as a MUCH newer ride! I also drive a 1983 Dodge D150 Miser, stripped of any electrical nonsense which had crept into most cars by then...

What are you working on today??

Verily, methinks I've got a stone starting to cut me innards a wee bit this week! Deo gratias, the Usual remedy, diuretics and DOPE are readily available, so w dope, I have hope, and cope. And this too will come to pass.... The occasional little stone reminds me that my normal piss and...

What are you working on today??

Better than none. Use it until you can find one appropriate for the 300. OR, hang a 3 0 0 on that. True, it still has the Plymouth logo, but.... who besides We Moparians would know? I could lift that logo off, but don't recommend you do so.

What are you working on today??

Nice to have an ultrasonic cleaner. My dad had one in his dental lab. I have to get my damned heater core out this Fall. Either it and/or the hoses in the heater box to it have started leaking. It wasn't much of an issue this year, but these things never magically heal on their own.

What are you working on today??

Ironically enough, I found a front grill for the '62 at the same wrecking yard I now abide down the street less than 1 mile from. I liked that junk yard even then. Sad how much of the Good Stuff has been destroyed even by caring junkers, to pay the taxes on the dirt they occupy. Make NO...

What are you working on today??

Today I'll be installing a distributor I rebuilt with a limiter plate, one of Hoppy's nice rebuilt vacuum advances, new bushings, points and condenser, all NOS. I now can check my condensers with a decent little capacitance meter. The one I'm installing today measures at 265 nF, a little high...
