I have to ask, how did Canada end up with so many of these beautiful cars?! Does rust not exist above the 49th parallel? :)

Wow! The Newport's body, color, and just the right amount of chrome looks great. Which one of the three do you enjoy the most?

Voltage Regulator-- Ohm readings with the arm in 3 positions

The charging system is working again! It is almost certain that the problem was caused by the fused contacts, but it is good to know the ohm readings for the voltage regulator---I hope it helps someone else. 65Port you ask a good question on why the contacts were fused in the first place...

Having trouble finding a replacement vacuum advance can

I have a failed unit and have been considering trying to put a new diaphragm in the shell. Someday, the supply of these is going to run out, so might as well figure it out now..... Anyway, getting them apart is a somewhat brutal process--in this case, I used a pair of needle-nose vice-grips...

Voltage Regulator-- Ohm readings with the arm in 3 positions

Having charging problems and found that my voltage regulator's upper contacts had welded themselves together. After breaking them loose and cleaning up the contacts, I checked ohm readings between the ING and FLD tabs while holding the regulator's arm in the 3 positions. (trying to hold...

Transmission questions again on my 68 fury iii

I feel for you stu’s68furyiiirat. The desire to re-use parts is high, especially so when you're already "IN" and find more stuff to add to the cost. If you can, box up the stuff, take it back, and ask for a 727 that hasn't been full of water. If you already have a rebuild kit, be careful...

To Mod, or Not to Mod, that is the question. What will break at 500hp?

I'm happy to report I'm now the proud owner of a 440 Block. I found a local fellow who was willing to part with one, and in the process got to meet a really nice and very knowledgeable Mopar enthusiast! Next step is get it to the machine shop for cleaning/magna flux, measuring, etc...

To Mod, or Not to Mod, that is the question. What will break at 500hp?

The first time I heard of it was my Dad, his friend, and I were at a machine shop looking at a German engine my Dad was having rebuilt. A set of the next size up pistons were staggeringly expensive and Dad's friend (bit of a hot rodder) suggested having the existing ones knurled. The idea was...

To Mod, or Not to Mod, that is the question. What will break at 500hp?

Some good stuff here:) Rick T-- Love the 78' New Yorker engine! Just an observation on drum brakes. After watching a number of impressive drum brake muscle cars at the drag strip and on road courses, I don't believe that drum brakes are junk. In fact, it was a bit of a shock to learn these...

To Mod, or Not to Mod, that is the question. What will break at 500hp?

Anyone ever try mating a 383 up to a modern, OD transmission? Recently, I spent some time working on a Doug Nash 4+3 in an 84 Vette (the original Project Sketchy). When we got the car, the overdrive wasn't working (a combination of mouse-modified wiring, corroded contacts, and stuff plugged...

To Mod, or Not to Mod, that is the question. What will break at 500hp?

Some great ideas and suggestions! Anybody have any experience with 440source.com? They have some inspiring stuff on their website. Now I just need to find a good 383 block. Hmmm...think Santa could get one down the chimney?

To Mod, or Not to Mod, that is the question. What will break at 500hp?

The car is a mostly original 1967 Newport, 2dr, 383 4-barrel, 727. Body is in good shape, interior is a little rough with rips in the front seat and a missing headliner. Engine runs okay, but is down on power and smokes a little on startup. It needs more power. 450-500hp at the crank would...

A 67 Newport just landed in my Barn

Very Nice. Is yours a 383 with the 2 barrel? What sort of plans do you have for yours? Full restoration, daily driver, hot rod? Here is my project car...

What Do You Bring on Long Trips or Rescues?

I'm hoping to see someone say...."On longs trips with my 1967 Newport, I take...." Anyway. as a founding member of the I Can't Pass By a Wrecking Yard Without Checking, I used to have a list of stuff I drug around in my truck. Tools...a mostly complete 1/2 and 3/8 rachet set, open/boxed end...

What Do You Bring on Long Trips or Rescues?

After looking at some pictures and videos of Members on long trips or heading out to pick up their new project, it sure would be handy to have a good checklist of "must have", "probably going to need this", "not needed, but will make my life easier", and "leave it at home". (And no, you can't...

    My new arrival!

Cbarge, it sure would be nice to see that beauty on the Hot Rod Power Tour 2023. Maybe couple passes down the dragstrip? If you promise to be there, I'll even bring donuts.

No brakes! Pedal goes to floor with engine running.

It definitely had air in the line---despite about 18oz of fluid bled through the new master cylinder and lines the first time. I don't see any leaks, but its first trip is going to be a short one around the neighborhood, culminating in some hard stops on an open parking lot and a careful...

    My new arrival!

Nice! Thank you for sharing the story and providing a "travelogue" showing the pickup and drive home. It is always fascinating to see what things people take along to bring their baby home. It would be fun to start a check-list of what is commonly needed. Battery, points, distributor...

No brakes! Pedal goes to floor with engine running.

Update... First checked fluid level and brake function with the engine on/off. Nothing changed. Nope, it didn't magically fix itself. Dang. Decided to pop passenger rear drum off and have a peek. Wheel came off easy---turns out 3 of 5 wheel studs are stripped (wish I hadn't seen that)...
