    Heavy Metal

Well known F15 with one wing. I believe it was a Israeli owned F15 that suffered a mid air collision. Landed with only one wing. A testament to the F15s badass reputation 104-0

440 swap or build the 383?

I will do some more pontificating, because of above mentioned strokers. Yes the 400 block is desirable because the bulkheads are thicker above the main bearings. Until you get upwards of 700 hp range this means very little. The 400 and 440 are desirable when striving for these kind of numbers...

440 swap or build the 383?

If your 383 is not using oil/blow by I would do a cam swap. Those early 60s cams are pretty lame. If you have the 284/484 cam well you own it, but you can do much better. I personally dislike that 284/484, the 292/509 cam is waaaaay better. The stealth heads will bolt on and put you...

    Heavy Metal

Boy that sure does look like a 35. Wonder if it actually flies. Makes the F 22 even more badass because it is exclusive and not as easily reverse engineered. Hurts the pocketbook, but it's nice to know it's a one off not shared.

Valve cover smoke after switching to synthetic oil

Synthetic flows easier, or has characteristics of a thinner conventional oil, hence the 0w20 or whatever. How can it be a Zero weight oil? Well it's not, but it acts like one. They work well in modern cars that don't contaminate the oil very quick. Old cars with starting on the choke, or short...

    Trans upgrade

    Me too.

    Trans upgrade

There was some adapters out there in the world for putting a 904 behind a big block smaller internals to be quicker at drag strip. Would do the same thing as 518 behind big block. I think most of them have gone away, seemingly replaced by ultra bell.

    Trans upgrade

I have not done a automatic. I have put a 4 spd manual overdrive 833 trans in 2 different cars. They are both are nice cruisers. My Charger has a mild 440, 3.23 gears and gets a easy 15+ mpg on the highway at 70+ mph and you can hear yourself think. The other car is a '69 Coronet/Super Bee with...

    Uncle Tony is not happy!

That's a good looking body. I'll be waiting on totaled out ones to come rolling in the salvage yard. Will make a good looking race car.

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals 2024 Tent Activities

I will add my 2 cents. After hanging with Hawk on last year's power tour I decided to swing by the FBBO tent at Carlisle. Lots of good food, drinks and people. Worth stopping by and talking with others. Tent last year was very close to C body field so no "it's too far" or "it's on the hill". No...

Unsure of how to move forward with 81 EFI Imperial

Could use a driver's taillight lense and a rear bumper. Only after I get mine running. See above.... You realize, I'm sure that they went out of business before the J body and 81 up imperial, and there is a reason for that. They were hobbling along with a government crutch until the mini vans...

All in 1 welders seem to be all the rage now. Can they really be that good?

It's like playing the piano. Just about anyone can bang out chop sticks. Everything above that takes practice.

All in 1 welders seem to be all the rage now. Can they really be that good?

I'm no "expert" welder. I leave that to my son. All welders heart is the transformer, low voltage/high amperage, like touching your wrench across the cars battery terminals, wrench gets hot. How the filler material and shielding is added is main differences for basic stuff. Beyond that cheap is...

1964 New Yorker gets 1978 Cordoba 11.75-disc brakes.

Yes, I think, FWTW, if you look at newer cars/trucks that were designed with the better/wider/ stiffer low profile tires available now, you see the control arms are spaced further apart/spindle is really tall. Obviously this would involve huge alterations to our cars. I think a taller spindle...

1964 New Yorker gets 1978 Cordoba 11.75-disc brakes.

Be careful of the drum master cylinder with disc brakes. Disc use fluid as pad wears, it will drain the reservoir dry. The drums brakes return all the fluid with springs and adjuster takes up clearance. Glad it worked. I put '75 Cordoba front brakes on my '68 Charger. Everyone says they are too...

    Dodge EV Day 2021

I gotta hand it to the Asian car companies. Sticking with the hybrid power train seems to be the better business move. The big three, which I hate to talk **** about, but they just make the worst decisions. They are like a 5 year old, they can't figure out how to compete. Then walk away from the...

    vapor lock

There is a reason for it. Adding a unreliable, not readily available crutch to patch the problem is no good. Have to find the problem. While I would not rule out the fuel pump push rod. The premature pump fail is a indicator that it is working too hard. I believe all behind the license plate...

    Dodge EV Day 2021

You can buy rods aluminum or steel that can drive 1000+ miles and make multiple passes in drag and drive racecars making 3500-4500 HP and a major manufacturer has their engineers castrated so bad their rods can't make 10,000 miles. Excellent plan! Ruin any reputation to make EVs look better...

EU’s controversial car laws vs repairing older vehicles

We will see in 2030, when the pen runs out of ink and concessions made because of blah, blah, blah, whatever. Problem is cars haven't gotten any better since the 60s. Making them electric is also not better. Make a better product and people will be waiting in line for them. Look at cell...

Pretty damn close to bottom is my opinion. FWTW
