    '71 Tail Lamp Options...

I was actually looking into doing the sequential thing on mine with the back-up delete lenses, thought it would be pretty cool. But, it was getting into more money that I wanted to spend. Yes, '70 front ends with hideaways were MUCH cleaner and sharper than the '71s. The '71 hideaway grille is...

    '71 Tail Lamp Options...

I have never been a big fan of the original design on the tail lamps for the '71s -- I thought I would post my redesigns for your enjoyment. I had several sets of lenses and bezels to play around with, so these depictions are real set-ups and not photoshopped. I was stuck on the back-up lens...

Slider pins won't tighten all the way in?!

Yes, what threw me were the positioners being so loose. Just glad it was something simple.

Slider pins won't tighten all the way in?!

Thanks Alan, it was the positioners that needed to be spread back out. I would have never figured THAT out! It's just as well that I didn't do them that day-- I was out of disc brake quiet and I needed to buy some SylGlide so I got that stuff and did them right. I also took the time to repack...

How would you clean a fuel tank?

I had a '29 Plymouth that had 45 year old gas in it! I put a couple shovels of one inch river rock in the tank after emptying and tying it to a strong tree branch and rolling it around in the air for an hour or so. Cleaned it with a couple gallons of fresh gas and it worked fine.

Slider pins won't tighten all the way in?!

The positioners having to be re-bent totally makes sense. The pins are positively not stripped, threads are good and I'm sure they stop screwing in when the shoulders hit. Thanks for all the feedback, you guys are great! I may not be getting back to it for a few days but will let you know...

I'll get a pic when I start back at it this weekend.

Steering shaft-- ask here or in the suspension/brake forum?

I ended up buying an NOS biscuit on evilpay. I figured if I was going to have to drop $150 on some billet part that wouldn't bolt right in without having to adjust the shaft, I may as well get the RIGHT part for $50 more. Easy install, works great, totally worth it!

Slider pins won't tighten all the way in?!

So, I started a two hour brake job about four hours ago to replace the pads in my '71. Should have been an easy fix since the rotors are fine and I just needed to throw pads on. I didn't even finish one side: The slider pins are not turning all the way into the back of the calipers enough to...

Steering shaft-- ask here or in the suspension/brake forum?

I think I've found the info I needed elsewhere on this site. Still wondering how difficult the procedure is...

Steering shaft-- ask here or in the suspension/brake forum?

My guess is the isolator biscuit is what I need. I found one online and it looks nothing like what I have, so much of it is gone. Scary. I'm also seeing the term "rag joint" being used.

Steering shaft-- ask here or in the suspension/brake forum?

Anyway, there is a union/connector at the end of my steering shaft and positioned before the coupler on my '71 Fury that basically disintegrated. Anyone know of rebuild kit or replacement? Are these hard to replace? Does the shaft and/or gear box need to be loosened and/or removed? Thanks in...

    Hi!

Thanks for the advice, I got the shocks installed yesterday with some coaxing.

    Hi!

Thanks for all the welcomes and advice! Paint code L-1 Sandalwood Beige, finally an early seventies MoPar that isn't granny green or downtown brown! It had the paisely top which was trashed. I shot the roof body color after I filled in the gaping rust holes. I don't like vinyl tops anyway. The...

    Hi!

They are gas Monroes -- OESpectrums -- nothing fancy. I paid less for a set of Monroe Max-Airs for the rear than the pair for up front!

    Hi!

Thanks everyone! Yes, I tie-strapped them to fully compressed position. I assume that they do not go straight up and in but fanagled in at an angle? Would have been SO easy straight up!

    Hi!

Hey all, new guy here. I have a '71 Fury and need help with front shock install. They look like they should go straight up into the shock tower via the bottom of the lower control arm but they don't fit through the space in through the arm where the bottom of the shocks bolt in. I removed the...
