Replacing or rebuilding a Federal PS pump.

Excellent. The old pump is out, the pulley is off, and I'm assembling the new pump in a day or two. I noticed that the high pressure line has no o-ring on it, but there is one in a recessed area in the pump where the threads for the fitting on the line get screwed in. Is this the only o-ring...

Replacing or rebuilding a Federal PS pump.

Yes, but is there a nut that requires removal before I press the pulley off?

Replacing or rebuilding a Federal PS pump.

I bought a new one from BBB, but it didn't come with a pulley. There's something that looks like a nut on the end of the shaft. Does that have to be removed before the pulley comes off? I would think that it does, but it doesn't have a hex design, so I'm not sure how well a socket will work on it.

Replacing or rebuilding a Federal PS pump.

Greetings. I have a Federal pump on my '69 NY (original 440 with only 60K) which is slowly crapping out. It's leaking slightly from the seal behind the pulley, and the shaft has some end play (very little, but you can hear it even with the belt still on). The leak is minor now, but I'm sure...

    Speedometer issues.

Not that this thread is active, but I figured I'd provide something resembling an answer just in case this helps someone in the future. After much research, it appears the ABS module is almost certainly at fault. I only have to find one with the exact part number and install it. I can't...

    Positive battery cable.

Greetings. Does anyone know how long the positive cable needs to be? Mine needs to be replaced, but I am not with the car currently, and I would like to buy another one before I remove the old one. It's a stock 1969 New Yorker. Thanks in advance.

1964 727 Transmission Pan Torque Specs

I use those gaskets exclusively on every Mopar I own (classic & otherwise). I've never had a single leak with them. It helps if you are, but you don't *have* to be precise with the torque. Those gaskets are pretty forgiving.

    Dodge van transmission compatibility.

Hello all. I can't find information on this anywhere online, and I simply don't know where else to look. I have a 2000 transmission out of a 3500 van that I may have to install in my 2002 3500 van. It is my understanding that some of the electronics between these transmissions in last...

    Power steering box valve.

Thank you for the reply. The hose fitting with two bolts is exactly the part that I'm talking about. It is leaking between that and the main valve, so it appears I should be able to remove that hose fitting without having any issues. I guess I'll just need to find o-rings that fit when the...

    Power steering box valve.

I have heard about this, and I have no intention of removing the main valve, so I'm sure the adjustment will remain intact. I'm only interested in knowing if there's anything I need to be aware of before I take off that little piece with the fitting on it.

    Power steering box valve.

I have a question about the two-piece valve that is bolted to the power steering box in my 1969 New Yorker. It's leaking at the joint between the main valve and the additional piece that mounts on the front of it. I know that if you remove the entire valve from the steering box, you have to...

    Timing chain replacement.

Everything is back together and it is running quite nicely. Strangely enough, it seems to actually start a bit faster than it did before, and seems to run a bit stronger somehow. I didn't expect any real difference whatsoever, so that comes as somewhat of a surprise. So far, nothing that was...

    Timing chain replacement.

I couldn't help myself, so I replaced the gasket again, and re-painted the timing cover. This time, it all went like clockwork. I also gave the bolts a good scrubbing. I left them unpainted because I actually like the way it looks. The pulley was also repainted (but not the grooves...just...

    Timing chain replacement.

The bolts were de-greased, but not painted. What you're looking at is my greasy fingerprints all over the bolts and the cover. I'll clean everything off before I bury it all under the pump housing and other parts. "Walking out" means that as the one bolt was tightened, the gasket slid away...

    Timing chain replacement.

It seems unlikely anyone's been in there at any point, especially since the motor only has about 55,000 miles on it. However....I did notice that there was no gasket between the bottom of the timing cover in the oil pan. Somebody had used a very thin coat of black sealant to seal that area, but...

    Timing chain replacement.

The old set didn't have a nylon covered cam gear, which was the whole reason I dove into this in the first place, but the chain had relaxed a fair bit. It was deflecting about 1/2". The new chain is nice and taut.

    Timing chain replacement.

More progress today. The timing cover didn't want to line up when the new lower gasket was installed. I tried installing the lower bolts first to compress it, but it was of no use. I had a roll of gasket paper that was thinner than the cork in the Fel-Pro kit, made another gasket out of it...

    Timing chain replacement.

A bit more work was done today. The pump housing gave way easily when the "hidden" bolt behind the heater hose fitting was backed out. This will all get cleaned up and refinished as things go along.

    Strut Rod Bushing mod

Resurrecting this thread..... Have you used the B-body bushings on a C-body? Will they fit, or at least be close to fitting? Polyurethane bushings can be very easily shaped using belt sander, so if the B-body bushings are larger for some reason, sizing them down will not be a problem. I can...
