Yahoo groups -- Polara & Monaco?

Thanks, that sounds correct. I rejected a serious offer at that time and I'm glad I kept it.

Yahoo groups -- Polara & Monaco?

Thanks, your decoding is very helpful. I also recall possibly Fred's outline of my build sheet with the build date probably posted to yahoo. Last time I tried to search the posts, I couldn't find an earlier outline, but it's likely similar to what you posted here in 2018.

Yahoo groups -- Polara & Monaco?

I think I had only posted my build sheet into the 'files' on yahoo which I have. Someone did a nice job of outlining what my build sheet showed and I don't have that anymore. Happy New Year!

    For Sale 1970 Polara convertible

Those old paint jobs really take to shining up! Urethane base/clear coats just don't do that it seems.

    For Sale 1970 Polara convertible

Cool! It will probably run. Driving around when the weather is nice will be fun. Despite the troubles with that old tight Newport top, most of my old convertibles had a power top that worked well even if the top motor had to be hotwired.

    Welcome vidsal to FCBO!

I just remembered that the previous owner had a 71 parts car and may have taken a lot off that. The radiator comes to mind as something he probably swapped. There was a 71 hood that I couldn't take with me when originally buying the car.

Here are the photos. I see some numbers that can be made out on the voltage regulator.

    Welcome vidsal to FCBO!

I'll take a picture after work. Where are the numbers you would like to see on the regulator? The previous owner modified a lot under the hood. Btw, the build date is 9/11/69 from what I recall.

    For Sale 1970 Polara convertible

My Polara did not have a glass back window when I got it. It could have been replaced at some point with the clear vinyl it had when I bought the car in 1989. The car had a new top in the box that came with the car when I bought it. When stored back in WI my Dad discovered a mouse had chewed...

    For Sale 1970 Polara convertible

On the Newport top, I was careful not to leave the top down for long periods or especially while it was in any way humid out because I think it shrank a bit drying out. It did ok until I sold the car a year or so later. This was probably spring of 1990. My Polara's top was a different...

    Welcome vidsal to FCBO!

I don't have a picture of the tag. It may have been removed by the previous owner. He made some unusual changes to the car like adding a dual point distributor and painting over a lot of things under the hood. I did have a scan of the build sheet which I saved from it's spot inside the rear...

    For Sale 1970 Polara convertible

Thanks for the pictures. It's really cool to see this car. You may want to take as many pictures as you can of every inch of that car if some of the OEM stuff is still there. It may help a lot if restoring to a meticulous original later. Saving some of those unusable, but old original parts...

    For Sale 1970 Polara convertible

Wow, that car looks great outside in the light. You've done very well! Please keep posting updates with pictures. We'll all enjoy seeing that car on the road again. Maybe pull the plugs and let some marvel mystery oil soak the cylinders for a few days. Rotate the engine by hand if possible...

    Welcome vidsal to FCBO!

Thanks for the welcome. I've followed and joined some of the various boards for the Polara over many years. Here's the start of the picture montage. These are in reverse order when the car came from WI to NM. The top disintegrated in Iowa and we put the bows down. Our airspeed easily...

Bringing a car back from Canada

I bought a car from a Canadian while the owner was in the US. We did the transaction, get this, at the Port Of Albuquerque at the Sunport (ABQ)! The agents were quite confused until someone that knew what they were doing showed up. After that, all went smoothly and even kept going smoothly...

    Welcome vidsal to FCBO!

Here are a few from the past five years with the most recent picture of the car as a table, unfortunately. Someday I'll get to working on my Polara. It may never be a show car, but could be a decent driver. I've owned the car since 1989.
