    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

Thanks for the dyno plots, they are very insightful. Though it says they are approximations. I wonder how they come up with them?

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

I have two newer cars that have the instantaneous mileage readouts. While they are not necessarily accurate in an absolute sense, they do give me a good idea of what helps and hurts MPG. For instance, I live in hilly northeastern PA and on my Toyota Highlander V6 I average 20~21mpg in...

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

I have a feeling that the RPM where it peaks has just as much to do with it as the difference of 15 ft-lbs.

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

Heheh, that's the kind of answer I'm looking for ;)

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

I understand and appreciate your advice and I already know what I want to accomplish. I have other cars when I want speed. This one would mainly be about comfort, style, and something I can just enjoy. I don't want (or need!) another project car. But I don't want a car that can't "get out of...

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

I can believe the MPGs being as you said that it was flat highway. But it's weird that the heaviest car with the largest engine got the best mileage and lightest with the smallest engine got the worst. I'm not doubting the results but just wondering why. Maybe the Gran Fury had a 3.something...

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

I've been rolling around in my head getting a 76-78 New Yorker for road trips. Some of them have the 400, some the 440. Of course I'd want the 440 but is there going to be much of a noticeable difference in power, assuming they are both running correctly with a most-likely deleted ELB? I know...

1968 300 tail light panel - silver argent?

NLA from A-1 Racing Products either :( so I guess I'm going to be looking for another product. I'm going to give the Kyrlon aluminum a try and see how it looks. If it looks pretty good I'll post some pics

1968 300 tail light panel - silver argent?

Nevermind that....they emailed me saying the order was canceled because it is out of stock with no ETA I notice that on SummitRacing they suggest as a subsitute Mopar Performance Paint P4529876AB, but it is also NLA. I found the original on A-1 racing Products so ordered it there. We'll see...

1968 300 tail light panel - silver argent?

I don't doubt that the paint and also the metallic flakes in the paint do fade/tarnish/etc. over time. Yeah, that's probably the best bet -- to just try and stay consistent. What is the Mopar spray bomb??

1968 300 tail light panel - silver argent?

Thanks for the info. It even has a paint code which I never knew about. I took the tail lights out and could see that whoever painted it did not remove them, instead just masked them, so there is a different shade which was hidden. It does not look like the silver argent paint I bought to...

1968 300 tail light panel - silver argent?

The earlier 68 300's that had the silver painted tail light panel -- was that painted with the silver argent? The one I'm working on was repainted by someone with just a run of the silver paint and I'd like to get it more like original.

    SOLD 1973 Imperial LeBaron (TB)

I do like this car. But I'm not sure it would fit in the garage, seriously! With the 68 300 there's maybe a foot of clearance behind the car to bring the garage door down. I'd have to cut a little rectangle out of the wall where the front of the car would stick out. How is she at highway...

Replacement Aftermarket Camshaft for 383-4 and 440HP engines

When I was a teenager (in the 80's) I put a new set of Rhodes lifters into a 440 that had a "purple cam" in it (of unknown variation) to try and get a little more low-end and vacuum. I didn't know any better that you should replace the cam and lifters together as a set. My friend's father, who...
