    '68 Newport 275/60r15 on 15x8 (4.25" B/S -6ET)?

Looks great. What offset / backspacing do you have on your rims?

    '68 Newport 275/60r15 on 15x8 (4.25" B/S -6ET)?

Almost. The J measurement is on the inside of the rim. The backspacing is to the outside of the rim. So a 15x8 rim is 9" wide at the ouside. Which with 0 offset has a backspacing of 4.5". Which explains a 4.25" backspacing with a -6mm offset. I just found this handy link on the summit racing...

    '68 Newport 275/60r15 on 15x8 (4.25" B/S -6ET)?

Thanks for the information. I think ET is also called offset? "Offset is stamped on a wheel as an ET value, which refers to the German phrase “Einpress Tiefe.” ET indicates the distance between the mounting surface and the geometric centre of the wheel (the symmetry axle), usually expressed in...

    '68 Newport 275/60r15 on 15x8 (4.25" B/S -6ET)?

Hi all! I'm looking for new rims and tires for my '68 Newport. It currently has stock 14" rims with 205/75r14 Hankook tires which are more than 10 years old and are not round anymore. I've got my eyes on a set of 15x7 for the front and 15x8 in the rear. I want the widest tires possible...

1968 Newport 4dr Hardtop restore (NL)

Hey all! I'm doing really well. We've moved to another house. Finally with a big shop behind the house instead of a small one miles away. We've been really busy with the house. And we're currently preparing the shop for a new concrete floor with a 2 post lift! Looking forward to that. I...

Lean AFR for multiple seconds on high load (Brawler 670cfm vac)

This Brawler has a single stage power valve. Secondary metering block is plugged and not drilled for PV jets. It currently has an 8.5" PV. I've tried a 10.5 first, since I have 21" cruise vacuum, but that didn't work well. I went down to a 8.5 (18" Idle vacuum divided by 2) and that worked way...

Lean AFR for multiple seconds on high load (Brawler 670cfm vac)

It was under jetted out of the box... It had 70 primary main jets and 74 secondary main jets and was too lean on the AFR gauge with multiple different loads. I've spend multiple runs changing main jetting to 72 primary and 77 secondaries. Way better now on light and mid load and om WOT (after a...

Holley 750dp lean secondary tip in

I've broken the bank and I've bought a Brawler BR67256. 670CFM vacuum secondary with lots of adjust-ability. Works way better out of the box, but still has a high load lean spot. I've opened a new thread. Lean AFR for multiple seconds on high load (Brawler 670cfm vac) Hopefully I can get it...

Lean AFR for multiple seconds on high load (Brawler 670cfm vac)

Hi All, I've created a new thread since I've bought a new carb, which is working a lot better already. Previous thread can be found over here : Holley 750dp lean secondary tip in I've replaced my carb with a Brawler 670 vacuum secondary BR67256 and I'm currently trying to jet the Brawler for...

    74 Newport - headers for 400 BB

Headers are way better for powers than manifolds. Also compared to the HP manifold. I can advice shorty headers. Long tube headers are a pain to get right and hang low. More chance of hitting something with the headers I've used hedman 78070 for my mopar 400BB. Works great with my '68...

    Header selection

I've used hedman 78070 for my mopar 400BB. Works great with my '68 Newport. It can get tight to the booster and steering gear when using an RB tall deck engine. No experience with those... For more info check out my Newport build

Holley 750dp lean secondary tip in

It's sealing well and doesn't have anything stuck underneath it. The rubber disc is a couple weeks old. I ultrasonic cleaned and rebuild the carb. Good to know. It doesn't drain the reservoir at the moment. I just got a message that someone I know is going to travel to the states. So I...

Holley 750dp lean secondary tip in

I know that I can order them from summit etc. But if I buy say a $500USD carb, shipping will be around $150USD. When it gets here I have to pay 21% tax and 4.2% over 650$USD with some administration fees. Turning a $500USD carb into north of $850USD, which sucks... Same with all other stuff I...

Holley 750dp lean secondary tip in

There was a reaction before the one of CBODY67, where did it go? I think it was @saforwardlook US car parts are not very common here, and a lot more expensive than in the states. A holley carb will set you back well over a grand over here, and its slim pickings. I had a Edelbrock 1406 600CFM...

Holley 750dp lean secondary tip in

Hi All, I've replaced the Edelbrock 1406 600CFM on my car for a Holley 750 DP and I'm currently trying to jet the holley for optimal performance. Driving on the primaries is going pretty well, it's drive able. However, it's going very lean when opening the secondaries and it stays lean for...

    Distributor advance spring choice

Again thanks for the info :) Currently I had set initial timing to 12 degrees (electronic ignition etc) and got ~27 degrees at 2500rpm. I'd love to see it come in a lot quicker. I'd love to be more around the performance side with the distributor. I know that timing can sometimes result in...

    Distributor advance spring choice

Thanks @HWYCRZR. That topic explains what I'm experiencing. I'm used to having most centrifugal advance all in around 2500-3000rpm. And not around 5k. With lighter springs it should come on a lot earlier with a lot more mechanical advance than the 15 degrees I've experienced. I've disassembled...

    Distributor advance spring choice

Thanks for the tip. It might also be that the springs are so strong that the advance is not all in yet at 3k rpm. I've put a timing light on it and didn't rev it all to much over 3k rpm. But I have to say, the springs are so strong that it is hard to turn the rotor by hand until max advance...

    Holley 4150 baseplate gasket incorrect?

Thanks for the tips. I found out that Holley packed my renew kit incorrect. The website advertises a 37-485 renew kit for a 4779-9 carb, which I ordered. I got two of the same body gaskets, but the 4779 gasket is not here (and 2 of the base to body gaskets are identical). I found someone in the...
