Replacing "Floating Power" Engine Mounts with '79-'93 Dodge Truck Mounts

I finally finished this project, so I better round up this thread. I took the old mounts off my car and made a fixture from them from scrap metal - to get the hole placements relative to each other. (first photo) Then I tacked together the new mounts in the fixture and test fitted them on the...

1966 Imperial Crown convertible Ignition power issue

I just want to chime in and say I enjoyed reading your story and trivia about this gentleman - both here and on the IML. Specially because you phrased it in an interesting and positive way. Unfortunately I am not very good at running into characters like this. One of my friends however... they...

Replacing upper distributor bushing and related questions (CAP)

Are you sure you know you are replying to a post from 2021? :D I am puzzled about the purpose of your question? Isn't one of the purposes of a forum, that you can seek advice if you are not 100% sure what your are doing? I was probably wrong about why the oil hole in the bushing was misaligned...

How many '64 - '66 Imperial ragtops are left?

I think that one listed in Germany might be in Denmark now. If it is around 3years ago. (?) I wouldn't be surprised if there is a few in Sweden. There is a guy with a light green '65 convertible posting regularly in the primarily Swedish "imperialclub" facebook group.

    Heat Soak

I am a little late to the game, but I have a few numbers - for reference concerning the effect of a carb spacer: On a 440 RB with the heat-cross over still active, I added a 5/16" fibreglass spacer between manifold and AFB carb. It dropped the temperature of the float bowl from 127 F to 107 F...

Which viscosity ester oil in RV2 compressor?

Actually a friend of mine claims my expansion valve is s newer type for R134a. He says the ones for R12 has a difference shape and that the blueish sticker said "R134a" when is was readable ? Based on your very appreciated input, I think I will start leaving the EPR valve in place. Then if...

    1966 Imperial Transmission Mount

Thanks - I guess I don't have to worry too much about casting the bolt and holes in line or offset then. If I had lived in the same customs zone as any seller of a trans mount, I would have never even considered making one.

Rubber parts out of polyuretan for -69 Imp.

Thanks - I don't want to hijack your thread further :) . I have a few suppliers I can call for advise and pretend I want to buy PU and primer in bulk ;-), but if you happen to know the brand name of your friend's primer, that would be a big help. I hope you will let us know how the A 70 LCA...

Which viscosity ester oil in RV2 compressor?

Thanks Dave. I am going to take my chances with the ISO 80 ester oil then as I don't even know if the compressor makes pressure. And of course replace the O-rings and dryer. Is it recommended to remove the EPR valve without adding a thermostat to cycle the compressor? We charged a '69 with...

Rubber parts out of polyuretan for -69 Imp.

This is Great! Thanks for posting. Your results are obviously professional grade or even better! I am working on casting a PU transmission mount for my '66. After much googling I ended up ordering Shore A hardness 40 from siliconesandmore in Holland. I read that original rubber mounts were...

Which viscosity ester oil in RV2 compressor?

Last year when I changed the manifold gasket in my '66 Imperial, I made sure to tilt and drain the compressor from the old mineral oil (I THINK it was the original oil - looked like espresso). It's the original RV2. Now I want to re-fill it with ester oil (for compatibility with R134a etc.). I...

    My 1969 Imperial LeBaron

Welcome from your neighboring country :) . Such a nice original '69. A few weeks ago I helped the local mopar nut fill the A/C in his '69 Imperial 2 door. 1000g R134a cooled well in his car (roughly 70% of the original charge of R12). Just for reference. Imperials are not well known in Denmark...

    1966 Imperial Transmission Mount

The center bolt in mine (also '66 Imp) is also offset forward about 1/4" in the position where it is resting. But it is quite obvious from the way the old rubber is distorted; it should be in line with the 2 outer holes as per Matt's pictures. I checked the engine mount bolts (frame to mount)...

Replacing "Floating Power" Engine Mounts with '79-'93 Dodge Truck Mounts

I managed to cut the steel and do most of the drilling today. Having access to a large band saw really helps. (Next time I am going to try to design with the saws limitations in mind. I.e. only cuts between 45° and 90° to the length of the steel.) The pieces that connects to the truck mount was...

Replacing "Floating Power" Engine Mounts with '79-'93 Dodge Truck Mounts

Yes, I know of these 2-3° typical rearwards tilt when people build hotrods. So I was not sure if this was what I saw on the old mounts. Did not know the whole engine could be tilted to the side on some models. I don't think it is in this Imperial. Anyway I am going to prepare the individual...

Replacing "Floating Power" Engine Mounts with '79-'93 Dodge Truck Mounts

Good point. I guess the transmission mount on the car I borrowed engine mounts from could have been very worn, causing the engine to tilt rearward and deforming the engine mounts over time. Anyway I will keep them level. Much easier to work with. Thanks. I am using the mount in the middle in...

Replacing "Floating Power" Engine Mounts with '79-'93 Dodge Truck Mounts

I have observed the rubber starting to separate from the steel in the "Floating Power" engine mounts in my '66 Imperial. $189/pcs is a little out of my price range, so I have started preparing adapters to use Dodge truck mounts (for example Pioneer part no 602469 with built in strain relief)...

'66 Imperial Lower Control Arm Bushing

Missed including a picture of pivot shaft with new bushing: Also: It is possible to avoid taking off the entire brake assembly, but the 4 bolts on the backing plate has to be loosened to get the ball joint stud out of the spindle: Part numbers were: Lower Ball joints: MOOG K727 Shocks: KYB...

'66 Imperial Lower Control Arm Bushing

Yesterday I managed to assemble the car with new LCA bushings, KYB shocks, front strut rubber and lower ball joints (upper control arm bushings and ball joints still pending). What a difference in driving experience. Before the car pulled to one side when braking. That is gone now. I am...

    Restaurants & Diners

Thanks for the explanation. I do know what malt is and that is what confused me. I only knew of it as an ingredient in beer, whisky and bread. In recent years diners inspired by 1950's USA have been popping up over here. Most serve milk shakes and some serve floats, but I had never seen "malts".
