1966 Polara 880: The Build So Far, or "Bring Money".

Here's the latest: It's just about where I like it. There's a few things left I'd like to do, such as gears & a posi, an electric fan, and maybe a shift kit.

1966 Polara 880: The Build So Far, or "Bring Money".

Wow, has it really been 8 months since the last update? Well, yeah. Not much has happened, really. The only notable updates are the additions of a new AVS2 800 cfm carburetor, a pressure regulator, and I also rerouted the fuel lines to keep them farther away from the engine. Also, took...

    Southern Stub Frame Worth?

I’m looking at a southern rust free stub frame for my ‘66. I am looking to see what those units are worth generally? I found one in my area, and I don’t want to get ripped off. Thanks in advance.

BBM Aluminum Water Pump Housing Issue

No. The light around the edges is to demonstrate that the t-stat didn't sit on top of the gasket. I'll say it again, the t-stat did not initially fall into the hole. I set it on top of the housing's opening prior to installing the gasket and buttoning it up. The opening was identical to the...

BBM Aluminum Water Pump Housing Issue

I agree that that is the most plausible answer. However, not in this case. Here's the gasket I peeled off and the t-stat.

BBM Aluminum Water Pump Housing Issue

An interesting hypothesis. However, the gasket supplied didn't go to the edge of the housing's opening. The t-stat sat inside the gasket, not on top. Hence, the reason it was important that the t-stat didn't fall in like it does now. It fit identically to the factory housings. So that hole...

BBM Aluminum Water Pump Housing Issue

Took out my caliper, and measured the two housings, cast iron & aluminum for comparison. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. I don't have a "before" measurement of the aluminum housing, but it is definitely noticeably different.

BBM Aluminum Water Pump Housing Issue

Doubtful. The housing is only a couple months old. I also wondered if it heated up and expanded? No serious leaks were evident. It had a slight leak since I installed it that I attributed to the gasket. If it expanded, only the opening did, as the rest of the mounting area is unaltered. Yes...

BBM Aluminum Water Pump Housing Issue

What do y'all make of this??? Not a trick. Correct thermostat, used to fit normally. Fits perfectly on cast iron housing. Anybody else see this happen to an aluminum housing from Mancini Racing??

    For Sale Polara 440 emblem

Must be. I've only ever seen them on Canadian cars with the Plymouth dashes.

What are you working on today??

I like that. That may be what I have to do as it turns out anyway.

What are you working on today??

Had it out with the manager of the parts store today when I asked for my old caliper brackets. At first he insinuated that I was stupid by installing them incorrectly, as there was no possible way three different caliper sets could be faulty. I was more than happy to set him straight. I...

What are you working on today??

BAD PARTS STRIKE AGAIN!! I've been really getting my *** kicked on this Camry. So far, I've been through 3 sets of calipers, and none will fit. The brackets will either not hold the pads, and the ones that do won't clear the rotor. There are no other pads that cross reference to this car. I am...

What are you working on today??

Working on a non-Mopar product today. I set upon completely overhauling all the brakes on my Camry, calipers, pads, and rotors, front to back. The rears were installed without any issues, however, I can't say the same for the front. The first red flag: the reman front calipers said Cardone on...

What are you working on today??

Added a budget hidden stereo system to my Polara. I couldn't justify spending $500 + for a Retrosound system, or the $800 + to have my original radio retrofitted with modern internals. After a few evenings crafting a speaker housing and a new glovebox insert, I have a system that works just as...

1966 Polara 880: The Build So Far, or "Bring Money".

I decided the old speakers had to go. One would crackle every now and again, and that just won't do. To rectify that, I did the right thing and bought the best $40 speakers that had 1 day shipping Amazon had available. Pictured below are photos of the speaker plate that I didn't include in the...

1966 Polara 880: The Build So Far, or "Bring Money".

Started a project a few evenings this week: piping in some tunes. I approached this upgrade on a budget. A Retrosound system would be ideal, but I feel the cost for one of those systems is not ideal for my needs. It all started with a pair of 3.5" speakers I've had kicking around for the past...

I was expecting something a little bit more creative. :steering: Oh well. I guess K-I-S-S is probably the way to go.

Thanks! Regarding the shutoff, what would be a better alternative?
