    There's a corner now.

Toom a moment to trim the rust back to good metal on the pillar and inset. Patched in the rust hole in the inner curve. Next up will be that square above it then the gasket lip. After that, I can rebuild the pillar and outer skin. Then, that's that corner done.

Little bit of zip zip hammer zip. That's more or less the correct profile now. Need to tweak it a bit more yet but it fits pretty well. Phil

Persuaded the rest of the screws along the top to undo, most of which were just rusted blobs of metal and needed hammer and chisel to unscrew. Cleaned the top of the channel. It's rusted in the stupidest places, like in the middle at the top. Guess the trim rubbed through the paint.

Slightly off topic- are these the correct door handles for a 66 Fury? https://www.classicindustries.com/product/1968/dodge/coronet/parts/MB2262.html?srsltid=AfmBOoo0GSxuw_X0F0Db2BGO94cvAU73_gxsHW7bHBE0kBz_ZumoEm7yqLA I have one handle missing the button and mechanism, but an not sure if it's...

Made a start on a replacement piece for the lower corner. It's a triple compound shape. Getting there though. These shall not be lead. They shall be steel. Much easier to fix when it rusts through again.

    Cleaned the welds up.

Got the car running again. 4 bad spark plugs (that'll be the 4 that were full of water then) and it's running pretty well apart from an intermittent vacuum leak I need to hunt down. Decided to start on the bodywork. I really want to get the rear glass back in at some point so made a start on...

Well, that's nice. Child drove her friend's pick-up truck into the Plymouth. Guess I didn't like that hood anyway.

Mildly suboptimal. Need to wait for that to thaw now. Really need to fix the body so I can put the glass back in...

I really need to get a fan.

I emptied all the junk out of the back and gave it a cursory wash. Just need to finish up putting the trunk floor in now, then I can fix the deck lid lip, then the window surround. Motivation to do things is improved.

(ok, I'll quit being a smarta##) I got it running because I needed to move it. I filled it up with water- it didn't leak so I guess the hole rusted up- but it was running badly. So, I spent a bit of time having read the correct tune-up procedure for the Holley that's on it. Once it was up to...

That right there is steam. Is meant to be inside the engine, but it escaped.

Indent for the screen seal. Mine was so shrunken that it was nearly round, not with a nice corner piece. That makes a lot more sense now. Thank you!

Looks like it was assembled in this shape. The little divot in the corner brace suggests something but just to drain inside would be odd; the lack of a drain suggests the rust in the first place. It may just be space to allow the body worker to be able to shape the steel correctly. I just want...

Took a look today again at the sheet steel, trying to picture what it should look like. Still unsure if that was intended to drain down the back of the inner wheel tub and out at the base, or if it qas a fully sealed corner, goobered in with lead and shaped up. Anyone know for sure? Both...

I moved it and cleaned underneath where it was sat. Helps to have a clean workspace. I think the fate of this other engine is the scrap yard, so I'm going to pull the ancillaries off and ditch the rest. That'll clear the trunk of the Plymouth and I can get back to it. Phil

I'm still here. I started the Plymouth the other day, which did fire up on all cylinders, surprisingly. It's currently a storage shed for some engine pieces. If this winter is mild I need to get back to finishing up the trunk floor and a few other bodywork niknaks.
