It's worth trying if you don't like your car. On the serious side, they have completely different properties and cannot be mixed. I wouldn't even try it "just for fun" on a parts car in the northern climes of Alberta, let alone Arizona. Not worth it.

    Aluminum Radiator Nightmare!

I feel your frustration. Thank you for bringing this issue to light, so others may learn. I always have the originals recored. I must say, for an aftermarket aluminum radiator, that one has a gorgeous top tank! Most of them are just square bent aluminum. Patience and perseverance. And pay...

Yep, that's exactly what he is saying. I'm saying that there is a possibility that it is not.

    Aluminum Radiator Nightmare!

The plastic wrap makes it hard to see, but it looks like it's nice and close on the driver side, and there's a gap on the passenger side. I can't imagine why that would be as most (all that I've seen) rad supports, are flat across the hole. This makes me wonder if it's a manufacturing defect...

    ATC workaround

Holy crap! That's alot of work. I'm glad it was worth the effort.

    ATC workaround

Thanks! That looks identical to the '71's. I once had to rebuild one, and replicate the stacked and notched plates in the box behind the five buttons. I didn't realize the warm slide lever acts as a rheostat. That part worked, I didn't have to look into it.

    ATC workaround

Interesting, thanks for correcting me on that. That seems like an odd way of doing things. All vacuum pots are essentially on /off switches, I would think the throttling would depend on what the controls in the car are calling for, although, I was wrong before. On that note, how do you adjust...

    ATC workaround

My apologies, The manual vacuum operated systems I'm familiar with, mostly '71's, with the larger, stock vacuum pot, were equipped with a blend door. Cable operated, non A/C systems can be adjusted with small increments of the lever. However also have a blend door. Your 1970 Chrysler with...

    ATC workaround

The same is true of all manual systems, hot water is either all the way on, or off. Infinite adjustment is available using the blend door.

Coolant leak on front of engine, 383

If you end up having to do the water pump, that would also be the perfect time to do the timing chain, if it hasn't been done yet. If you're not sure, it's also a good time to check. This is very important, I once found out the hard way just how important it is.

Did 1972 Imperials come with a coolant reservoir?

I don't think the '72 Imperial came with one, I'm not 100% sure though. I am 100% sure a '70 Charger did not come with one from the factory. I'm guessing the part you are referring to is a universal tank, possibly a mopar part, but not OEM.

    Anyone using a fan clutch??

Should have mentioned as well, unless it was never or rarely used, chances are, at 45 years old, it's no good.

    Anyone using a fan clutch??

So the clutch fan is out of a '73 440, shall I assume that it's going into a 67 New Yorker with of course a 440? If so that could be the problem, I believe the fuselage models gained a little length over their slab sided predecessors. That being said, what are the cooling issues you are having...

    Anyone using a fan clutch??

If your engine originally had a simple fan you may need to remove the spacer between the water pump and fan in order to accommodate a clutch fan.

    1971 300 Heater Core

Removing the two hoses can be your only under hood work unless you want to clean the box too, not a bad idea after 45 years. Non A/C cars are way easier access/replace. Dash stays, remove glove box door and liner and unless you're skinny and don't mind a bit of contorting you may want to remove...
