    Car is looking good, soend some time and get it together. If your "original harness is in great condition" then why do you want to swap the fuse box? The stock fuse box is not a problem. Are stock fuses hard to find? And how often do fuses blow out? Should be rarely to never.

    The brake light switch was screwed to the master cylinder, used hydraulic pressure To actuate lights. Not very reliable. much better off to put a mechanical switch on the brake pedal like they stated in mid 1961.

    Weld a tab on your tube and screw a ground wire to it. Or make the tab the correct thickness and width and plug a spade terminal to the tab.

    At the ballast resistor unplug both wire’s. Test light or volt meter the single blue wire should have power with key on. On the other side the brown and blue wire side has power with key in start only. Test that. If the leads look good and flow power don’t replace them. No sense on splicing...

    Please tell us about this ground wire in the ignition harness. Didn’t know there was a ground wire there. And how is it that the only wire burnt was a ground, where did all this power magically come from and only burn one ground wire? your story doesn’t sound right,

    Make sure the voltage regulator is grounded, if not it will overcharge.

    Cluster of ignition wires started smoking

    Electronic ignition module. The smoke means it’s junk now. When you replace it get rid of the flat washers and use star washers on the bolts. It needs to be grounded.

    If bulb breaks then grasp the base with needle nose pliers and get it out. they may be rusted in place.
