    If the wheel cylinder bolts are hard to get to then grind down a wrench so it fits in there. You must remove the hose from the cylinder first To remove the wheel cylinder. Taking off the backing plate is not something to do for the fun of it, leave it alone.

    Whaddya mean “for now”. That tool will try to break the axle flange into pieces, there is nothing that tool can help you with on a 1966 rear axle. The lug studs and flange are one piece, they don’t come apart. That tool won’t be pulling the drum, it doesn’t attach To the drum on your car.

    If that second fitting is open then cap it and try the brakes. Don’t remove the valve if the brake problem is fixed. Something may break and then what? Yes some lube or getting it warm will help it come out. It’s just pushed in a rubber grommet.
