Looks like you've got it under control. Nice that you saved it from the derby. My '57 (my avatar picture) was saved from the wrecking yard in 1964 by me. How is the paint? it looks like it's not too bad in the pictures.

Try putting some penetrating oil on it, maybe that would help. The only times I've had to remove the upper ball joints I was replacing them. I didn't worry about damaging them. and got them out with a pickle fork.

Is it possible the gas is old?
