    Carb fuel line connector

Okay so heat, cool it with penetrating oil. Don't wave the flame around when you break line loose. Common sense should prevail, or Darwinism will succeed. All better alternatives than grinding the corners off with vise grips, then complaining that a TQ is a POS carburetor.

Can you help a Small block Chevy guy understand a 1962 Chrysler 413 with cross-ram manifold? - compression and pump gas?

Just drive the damn thing. Talk, talk, talk. Drive it and adapt. It's a car, and your not setting out on a round the world voyage. My Charger has a wrong sized piston in it. '66 block, '70 rotating assembly, as mentioned wrong size 80s replacement piston, 1976 #452 casting heads, a 318 pickup...

    Carb fuel line connector

Put some heat on it. Tap around the flare nut. Probably tightened by some flat rate gorilla, so you have to outsmart a guy who is probably pushing up daisies.

    Rod Cap Reinstall Alignment

As Big John mentioned they should be stamped. Both the cap and the rod on the tang side, or facing the pan the oil sqirter v notch faces the pistons on the opposite bank to squirt oil up in the piston. Would not matter too much if you flipped them (aftermarket rods do not have the v notch)...

8 3/4 Axle replacement pinion Seal

The correct way with a crush sleeve spacer is. Remove wheels, remove drums. Measure the turning torque of the pinion nut with inch pound torque wrench. Write that number down. Remove pinion nut, remove yoke, remove and replace seal replace yoke, tighten pinion nut stopping to check turning...

    EDELBROCK AVS2

As long as manifold is a late model it can be left alone. Only reason I don't like coming off the ballast side is, it draws a lot more amps through the ignition switch. Both are rather large amp draws. Coil is a large amp draws because only thing slowing the current is the huge number of...

    EDELBROCK AVS2

I believe you have a lean burn car? There is a choke heater wire on the intake/passenger side connects to original divorced choke well. Just use that.

    1966 383 516 heads what pistons?

Well from my experience. No matter what heads you take to a machinist they are going to say they need work. I say this because I would not tell you they are okay, because then I'm responsible for the valve job. I understand that a crap valve job can wear out quickly. So IMO a fair valve job and...

    440 Cylinder Issue

I've been turning pistons, swapping from bank to bank, and engine to engine. I've had engines where I believe the pistons were too tight and definitely ones that were too loose. None of that caused scoring. Lack of oil, hot skirts will usually gall on the wall (aluminum piston material)...

    1966 383 516 heads what pistons?

There is no way to justify dumping that much money in a set of #516 castings. I'm sorry but those heads are not worth putting a thousand dollars into. Going to a open chamber head is a bad idea also. As mentioned before just freshen them up and put them back on. Worst that will happen is the...

    1966 383 516 heads what pistons?

No, only after unleaded gas was taking over did hardening of the seats take place. First few years was surface hardened, then in 75 with cats started true induction hardening, deeper than a couple of thousandths. Hardened seats are a magazine hype back in the 80s when people were still using a...

440 swap or build the 383?

I will do some more pontificating, because of above mentioned strokers. Yes the 400 block is desirable because the bulkheads are thicker above the main bearings. Until you get upwards of 700 hp range this means very little. The 400 and 440 are desirable when striving for these kind of numbers...

440 swap or build the 383?

If your 383 is not using oil/blow by I would do a cam swap. Those early 60s cams are pretty lame. If you have the 284/484 cam well you own it, but you can do much better. I personally dislike that 284/484, the 292/509 cam is waaaaay better. The stealth heads will bolt on and put you...

Valve cover smoke after switching to synthetic oil

Synthetic flows easier, or has characteristics of a thinner conventional oil, hence the 0w20 or whatever. How can it be a Zero weight oil? Well it's not, but it acts like one. They work well in modern cars that don't contaminate the oil very quick. Old cars with starting on the choke, or short...

727 trans pan gasket that doesn't leak??

A&A has a gasket for it. Mopar probably not.

727 trans pan gasket that doesn't leak??

For a 500 od trans. Was behind v6 engines and some 5.2 non magnum in Dakotas or very light 2 wheel 1500. Has same pan as 904.

    best carburetor

I'll take a TQ any day. When they are right they drive wonderful. My Challenger picked up 2 tenths in the quarter over the 3310. Now the 3310 still had that stupid metering plate, so that's where I put the blame. The TQ idles better/cleaner with crappy cam, and low vacuum.

New Torque converter, rear gear change?

100% agree with this. I put 1900+ miles on my Charger last year's power tour in a week. 3.23 with 15" wheels and OD trans 2600rpm is around 80 mph. It's a .72 od gear. So let's put it back to 1:1 trans 2600×1.28=3328, sure that would be fun for 1900 miles ringing in your ears. For all the 3.55...
