Which Battery to get at Costco

Battery for a 1998 Dodge 1500 pick up with a/c and power windows will get you a group 27.

How noisy are your ignition coils? Tachometer low pass filtering.....

I don't know about noise, but I have had a recent failure of a coil with the spark jumping out of the tower and grounding to both the POS and Neg terminals. I have seen this before on high mile/old coils or hit and cracked on top. This was a newer coil, never damaged. One thing that is better...

The toughest wire pull I've encountered in my life! A Saginaw steering column and the Shee-Mar 107 wiring harness.

I will agree it is a PITA, I like the flat steel banding trick, some luck I think helps also, so good luck.

    67 Fury engine wiring help

Whatever, you want that section of wire to burn up before, and not ruin the whole harness. The vinyl insulation on wires today is better than vinyl of 1965, you will be fine. It is protection, not a fancy accessory.

    67 Fury engine wiring help

It is just thinner gauge wire. I'm sure you can Google a chart to determine the size needed.

Should I scramble to horde Champion J13Ys now that I have an Edelbrock 1405?

My 2 cents is..... For the driving you do (around town, stop and go) and not having a high speed misfire I would just run the 14s you already own. Personally I agree with loadrunner and stopped using those lawnmower plugs years ago. NGK are my current favorite although in the interest of...

Won't start - questions. Help needed.

Excellent, I'll just stay here at the hotel till I send my distributor to MSD and wait for it to come back so I can put it in and drive home. Aftermarket parts with no parts network just blows my mind why you would want that. I don't even want weird **** like that on my race car because the...

    Dramatic battery discharge

I think it was back feeding you ignition switch, instead of ignition switch feeding it power, stuck on.

Dim turn signal on left side.

That power probe posted earlier is a lifesaver. I have one with a extender wire, for using on my semi-trailer. They provide a ground, both probed and clipped, you can power up items at the probe, and it works like a test light with different tones and LED light colors for power and ground. A...

Dim turn signal on left side.

Grounds always make weird and/or random stuff happen, (starts now ten minutes from now will not crank). Total failure of a item function is usually a open or loss of power. Shorts (super grounds before the load) are usually blown fuses, popped breakers (headlight switch) and melted wires. These...

    DWELL Question

At speed points are not keeping up with point cam profile as well as slow rpm. If the car runs well it's not really a issue. If you were to want to rev the snot out of it it would likely spit and sputter(misfire). Now you know why they have stronger springs in contact points and dual points in...

    Kill Switch

Someone put a inline fuse in my Challenger long before I got it. It's a pain in the ***, because if it blows (very rare) it acts like ballast resistor went bad. I leave it just in case I get a wired feeling I can pull the fuse and the car will start and shut off, start and shut off drawing...

Back firing into exhaust and carb 354 poly 4bbl

Condenser in distributor. New ones are all crap. Making me debate going electronic. Not a fan of electronic ignition nowadays because of off shore parts and no on the shelf at auto parts, which means I have to carry more/bigger parts for on the road spares. Good luck

    No-Start with New Ignition

Look down the carburetor when idling so if liquid fuel is dropping into venturis or very wet on the end of nozzle in the booster.

    No-Start with New Ignition

You have a rich condition. Is the choke coming off all the way. Is the pull off (small vacuum pot on passenger side rear of carb) opening the choke plate a small amount after the car starts. See if it is dripping fuel after you shut it off. If so you can have a few problems with a TQ that a mass...

    No-Start with New Ignition

I've had the little springy pick up on the rotor come loose and, or bend and cause some mis-fires

    No-Start with New Ignition

It is miss-firing, you have plugs that are not firing and the raw fuel is burning in exhaust when it gets to a hot spot. If you are on points (I can't remember/old), they are burned or loose condenser. Burned is having transferred material from one side to the other, leaving pits or bumps...

    No-Start with New Ignition

Yes, will give you better mileage, burn cleaner, and we can breathe better because of it. One caveat to be aware of is if it starts to surge at cruise with vacuum advance connected you will need to slow it down, with the Allen wrench in through the nipple. I have seen a couple of these...

    No-Start with New Ignition

I agree with this, but baby steps. First see if you can get it to advance with the light on it and understand what's happening. Don't change anything yet

    No-Start with New Ignition

Now your getting the hang of it. 90% of carburetor problems are ignition related.
