    My 70 300 TNT Convertible

Maryland loves those damn things. PA does not use them regular, but have been in construction zones

    Vacuum Advance

Vacuum advance should have no negative effect on performance, only there to aid in economy and efficiency at part throttle cruise. Sounds like yours is connected to manifold vacuum which will alter idle rpm and just cause stable setting issue around idle and just off idle. This is why it is...

    Holley 7855

Most old Holley's have been over torqued by the average car person so every flat surface inside is warped and needs machined, plus the throttle shaft is most likely loose. It could be fixed but it will not flow as well as a TQ and as usual a universal carb is just that universal based on GM...

    Holley 7855

Get a proper ThermoQuad built for your car from Woodruff's carburetor. Throw that Holley half breed in the trash (smash it with a sledge hammer first) so no other poor soul gets stuck with that junk. If you insist on a Holley or a modern Edelbrock. Get a new manifold with a square bore hole on...

    The weaponization of the DMV

Hey Jeff! There was a bunch of them back in the day. Now it has gotten to where you, and the other person have to have your license scanned by a state issued scanner (that I'm sure is really, really inexpensive) just to make sure you do not have any outstanding citations, or money owed the...

    The weaponization of the DMV

I hear you. Pa. has a whole host of problem all their own. Once there is no title for a car you are doomed. Other states let it be placed in a bonded title that usually reverts to the sole title after a number of years. Again good luck, sorry for clogging up your thread.

Look at that, now we know Jakter is another useless government employee. Go ahead, disagree, still useless.

    The weaponization of the DMV

Documentation, much better than actual pieces of said emission equipment. That will fix the atmosphere. Keep up the good work Ca. The rest of us are proud of you for leading the way in bureaucratic nonsense instead of just making sure the actual factory equipment is in place. Does not take a...

    The weaponization of the DMV

I know you could not get a tipped exhaust on later California cars. Like the 71 Challenger R/T could not be had in Ca with tips it had to have turned down exhaust. Also, prior to when it showed up in 1972 in almost all US cars the vapor canister or some sort of not vented to the atmosphere was...

    The weaponization of the DMV

Wow, the sticker is not right. No mention of any concern for the hundreds of modifications that could have been done in the last 51 years. Why not just test the air coming out of the tailpipe and not sweat a sticker color. Oh wait that would not be knee jerk reaction, which is always govt...

Resurrection of my 1970 Chrysler 300 Convertible

I can grab you a picture and length of my 70 E body belts when I get home. I did dye them and it worked okay. There is no way to through them in the dryer to "set"the color with heat. I think they did rub off onto clothes for a time. I'm such a non fashion guru that it was not a problem for me...

    8 3/4 gear pattern

New gears I would set tighter backlash for wear/break-in. The coast looks good, IMO I would try to get the drive pattern more toward center/deeper of the ring tooth. Disclaimer: I am not even remotely a expert on these. Now that I am looking I might have that backwards. The drive may be spot on...

    AT cooler line removal?

Just twist it out/snap the line. Throw it away and replace with female brass inverted flare. Then use 3/8 line with regular male nuts on the line. Next time you will be able to use 2 flare wrenches. Not one of Chryslers better ideas, but what do they care they don't have to work on rusty cars...

    Leaking pinion seal

Just match that rotational torque after you reassemble. I measure the torque to remove the nut with a beam torque wrench. Then put it back to a number significantly lower, measure rotational torque and work up to it. Crush sleeve ensures proper bearing preload, you just want to get back to that...

    How to service A/C?

Your right, but he was asking what to do about a existing system. Then the barrier hose thing came up. If I was doing it for a paying customer yes, barrier hose all the way, and a triple pass small tube condenser. For a home brew 134 conversion, o rings, TXV, oil, and dryer

    How to service A/C?

Still waiting for the 134 to leak out of the original hoses so I can change the Schrader valve that leaks and is capped by a old original brass cap. Don't believe the hype. Re-o ring the system flush and fill with proper oil and add new valve and dryer. Done
